Job Title: Director of Data Engineering
Location: Remote, East Coast working hours, with occasional travel to NYC
Reports To: VP of Product and Engineering, Pantone
Position Summary
We are seeking a strategic Director of Data Engineering to lead our data initiatives across Pantone’s product ecosystem. As Director of Data Engineering, you will drive data strategy, insights, and analytics, enabling data-driven decision-making and enhancing the value of Pantone’s products for our diverse user base. Reporting directly to the VP of Product and Engineering, you will be a key member of our digital leadership team, responsible for shaping Pantone’s data capabilities to support both existing products and new product innovations.
Key Responsibilities
Data Strategy & Vision: Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with Pantone’s business goals, enhancing data capabilities across Pantone Connect, e-commerce channels, and physical product offerings.
Data Infrastructure & Governance: Oversee the development and maintenance of data infrastructure and governance, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and compliance with privacy regulations.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams to identify opportunities where data insights can drive product improvements and optimize customer experience.
Data Monetization: Identify opportunities to leverage Pantone’s unique datasets for revenue generation, supporting new data-driven products and enhancements to Pantone Connect.
Leadership & Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing data engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years in data analytics, data science, or data engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, Python, etc.), data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI), and cloud architecture (AWS, Google Cloud).
Cloud Architecture Experience
Product-Centric Mindset: Strong understanding of product development processes and a proven track record of applying data insights to enhance product offerings.
Strategic Vision: Ability to develop a forward-looking data strategy that aligns with business objectives and adapts to evolving industry trends.
Leadership Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and experience building and leading high-performing, collaborative teams.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $200000 - $225000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
