Summary of Job Duties:
This position is responsible for delivery of the Resource Family/Adopt training curriculum, completion of the SAFE Home Study for prospective Resource/Adoptive families that complete this training. This position has regular contact with DCFS and other public agencies, and community professionals. The Trainer is directly responsible to the Resource Family Program Director. This position requires extensive in-state travel and work outside normal office hours. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or related master’s degree and experience with children and families to train and assess for the Resource program OR
  • Bachelor's degree with related experience and licensure.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience in writing home assessments, psycho-social histories, training in curriculum development and training delivery, trainer/instructor preferred. Appropriate professional licensure preferred, e.g., LMSW, CPC.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate resource education sessions for identified parents;
  • Communicate with program participants (phone, e-mail, mail, virtual setting), as needed;
  • Conduct SAFE home studies and adopt training curriculum as needed;
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state occasionally is required;
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours will be required;
  • Ability to adapt to organizational change and handle multiple tasks;
  • Ability to use a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite.
