The Manager, Program Manager is a key member of the team who is responsible for managing complex programs with multiple cross team integration points using multiple methodologies. The PM Leads shaping the approach to the program to get the desired outcomes through delivery, displays the leadership, knowledge, and negotiation skills to proactively address impediments, risks and issues directly with internal and external stakeholders. This leader must be able to reflect the company's strategy managing the program, mentors others on agile and project management methodology, drives toward continuous improvement and support other project managers and scrum masters.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures proper alignment with stakeholders while building consensus and support for program.
Works as a trusted advisor with the stakeholders to shape requests and influence decisions with innovative or best-practice recommendations at all levels of the organization.
Coaches the team on how to use Agile practices at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization.
Can identify the appropriate level of granularity that satisfies visibility and control needs.
Articulates complex concepts, schedules and inter-dependencies in a consumable way for stakeholders.
Able to negotiate and manage constraints.
Effectively extracts potential risk/impediments from team members' updates.
Understands the project goals and the project's operating environment well enough to predict risks/impediments.
Able to strategically escalate well-defined issues/risks/impediments to appropriate decision-makers. Less strategic items are handled within the team.
Remains effective even when information is unclear or limited guidance is available.
Addresses ambiguity in project goals, objectives, deliverables, and quantifiable success criteria.
Monitors future work to proactively adjusts plan and resource focus and looks for trends to foresee scheduling challenges.
Proactively creates processes and deliverables that are fit for purpose.
Able to determine how variances to spend impact fiscal year budgets, the long-range plan, and the project/program budget.
Excels at learning new skills/concepts and can share and coach team members.
Additional management skills include:
Manages the performance of managers/professional staff through goal setting, ongoing assessment and experienced coaching.
Leverages the performance management cycle to motivate subordinates and support achievement of objectives; coaches’ other managers.
Accountable for the performance of projects within the portfolio through subordinate managers.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Seven (7) ore more years of IT work experience, including seven (7)or more years managing projects and at least 3 years of leadership experience
Five (5) or more years of Agile experience and one (1) year of mentoring/coaching required
Prior knowledge and experience with Case Optimization - highly desired
Three (3) or more years of people leadership required
Prior experience with Salesforce - highly desired
Prior experience working within the healthcare field - desired
SAFe Agile experience recommended
Related certification preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Information Systems or Engineering; or equivalent work experience
Advanced Level Understanding of:
Agile and waterfall methodologies, values, and procedures
Large scale, technically complex projects
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
Customer Operations, Call Center Operations
Relevant business software (e.g. Microsoft Office applications, Clarity, MS Project, Team Foundation Server, Jira)
Possesses the ability to balance a willingness to engage with ideas different from their own, encouragement of others to express divergent perspectives, the capability to influence, conflict management, and teamwork.
Highly adaptable to changing environment.
Situational awareness of when to listen and when to be assertive.
