The Opportunity
Abbott Medical Devices are recruiting for a brand-new Market Access Specialist role in the UK. As a Market Access Specialist, you will report to the Head of Market Access UK&I, and you will support the Abbott complex medical device business units.
This is a field-based role with 40%-50% travelling anticipated within the UK.
What You’ll Do
As a Market Access Specialist, you will support the development and implementation of value-based approaches and solutions from a Health Economics and Market Access perspective as a critical component of the short- and mid-term growth strategy of the commercial organisations in the UK. More specifically:
- Provide operational support to the Head of Market Access UK&I in the execution of upstream (payers / HTAs) and downstream (customers) actions.
- Support the development and the implementation of value-focused economic and reimbursement strategies and tools.
- Become a trusted partner to the commercial businesses.
- Enable health economic data-driven engagement at the account level, by performing payer data analyses that support sales and marketing strategies and actions.
- Provide research and reimbursement deliverables for customer engagement initiatives, reimbursement education, dossier development, and economic modelling.
- Provide internal training and education on relevant topics, such as NHS funding flows and payment systems.
- Support the development of economic value components to enhance the value proposition of Abbott’s therapies and devices.
- Proactively monitor the external environment, customers, and competitors to identify opportunities for protecting and improving value capture.
- Maintain and leverage critical relationships with key market access stakeholders.
Required qualifications / Profile
- Degree in Science, Medicine, Economics or Engineering is preferred.
- Formal Education and/ or training in economics, health economics, health technology assessment or the procurement of Value based Healthcare is beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with pricing, reimbursement and HTA (Health Technology Assessment) is beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience of working with Hospital Episode Statistics (HES) data and/or hospital coding is beneficial.
- A strong understanding of funding flows / NHS payment systems is beneficial.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience in medical device commercialization and strong business acumen.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
