Job description

Red River is seeking a Sr. Lab Resident Engineer to join our growing team! ​​The Sr. Lab Resident Engineer shall provide OEM subject matter experts to perform integration services to include transition to services in support of Infrastructure Executive Directorate priority projects.  This support requires both on site DISA Headquarters presence as well as corporate reach-back support based from contractor facilities as appropriate.  The contractor shall provide qualified personnel to work side-by-side with IE project teams on government directed priority projects.
Primary Position Tasks:  
  • Assist with providing feasibility study for the implementation of new architecture on DODIN network and collaborate with different vendors to evaluate interoperability, manage software bugs and track of all (Vendor Tickets) cases involving any issue, timely escalation processes and get to resolution within reasonable time frame
  • Provide upcoming software vulnerability mitigation plan for information assurance vulnerability alert, which should be provided to Tier-3 government before they are publicly released
  • Assist with laboratory troubleshooting to government and non-vendor contractor for any proof of concept configuration, design and troubleshooting as necessary, assist with troubleshooting, configuration, engineering recommendation
  • Recommend workaround and fixes for known bugs or software issues, recommend new code/software release to mitigate software/hardware bug and/or new features, recommend new hardware to replace existing hardware due to end of life or bug
  • Perform bug scrub for vendor recommended targeted code prior to code certification testing
  • Assist with production/operational outages, issues, and deployments, assist with code and hardware upgrades/deployment including developing procedures, and assist with the rough order of magnitude (ROM) for hardware tech refresh and new design
  • Assist with code and hardware certification testing, recommend potential solution/design regarding to new requirement and workaround for network issue
  • Evaluate technical specifications for interoperability testing and develops network and equipment operating procedures.
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:  
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 7-10+ years related experience in a similar role. 
  • Current professional-level OEM certifications or equivalent experience. 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active Secret Clearance
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience: 
  • Previous Technical Lead, Senior Engineering, or Principal Engineer experience 
  • Previous experience in a long-term enterprise engineer role 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Visio. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) across technical and nontechnical teams. 
  • Run projects autonomously or in large engineering team and project managers. 
  • Time management and ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in planning, organizing and guiding extensive programs and activities of major consequence.
  • Develop additional technical and professional skills through career-track curriculum and self-learning experiences.
  • Understands business problems for customer base and is able to translate them into technical requirements. 
  • Understands and articulates respective Architecture discipline and provides technical services in the form of design, assessment, and analysis.
  • Highly collaborative and able to drive to consensus, multiple competing ideas and solutions based on customer objectives.
Essential Elements: 
​​When completing office tasks, this position requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday. Lifting of up to 75 lbs, and frequent walking is required during site visits. 
​ 
​This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River or customer approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment. 
​​ 
Special Requirements:  
This position will operate from a Red River office, customer facility, or in a remote capacity, with up to 50% travel to customer and partner sites (regional and national within U.S.).  The incumbent must be able and available to travel via plane and car for extended periods of time, as required by business initiatives.
