The Serve fleet has been delighting merchants, customers, and pedestrians along the way in Los Angeles while doing commercial deliveries.

This role will be focused on overseeing the planning, execution, and optimization of complex technical projects related to the company’s hardware and manufacturing development and deployment efforts. The TPM will help coordinate efforts across mechanical, electrical, NPI, and manufacturing  teams to ensure smooth operations and efficient delivery of components and robots. The TPM will need to deeply understand technical systems and processes to identify potential roadblocks and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The role will also help develop and implement processes to help the organization streamline and advance initiatives to help with robot upgrades, configuration management, and design practices.

Responsibilities 

  • Project planning and execution: Define project scope, timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies for various hardware and manufacturing projects including Mechanical part design, development, and testing, PCBA and cabling design, development, and testing, and manufacturing practices. 

  • Cross-functional collaboration and Management: Lead and coordinate efforts across hardware engineering teams, product managers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, align priorities, and communicate project status updates effectively. 

  • Process Development and Improvement: Develop and implement processes that help streamline workflows and improve efficiency. Analyze and update existing processes and identify areas for optimization and improvement.

  • Configuration Management: Help transfer and implement the new PLM system and create and implement processes around configuration and BOM management. Optimize different configurations and how we deploy and upgrade.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed project documentation, including technical specification, project plans, and status reports to maintain transparency and accountability. Create detailed processes with artifacts that can be easily implemented and understood by a broad audience.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical, electrical or another equivalent engineering discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering program management, or technical program management 

  • 5+ years experience with hardware, manufacturing, or autonomous systems development processes

  • Experience successfully articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical partners

  • Strong track record of managing complex cross-functional projects and shipping product features in a production environment

  • Experience building strong working relationships with senior leaders and engineers across functions and departments

  • Ability to keep the big picture in focus and to provide clear, well-structured, and concise communications tailored to each appropriate audience

  • Ability to travel up to 10% time

What Makes You Stand Out 

  • MS degree in Mechanical, electrical or another equivalent engineering discipline
