About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manager of Procurement. This pivotal role will drive our procurement strategy, focusing on acquiring and managing procurement of all products and services, including SaaS solutions critical to our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tech procurement coupled with a deep understanding of business operations of a high growth tech company to inform practical solutions in pricing negotiations and vendor review. Experience or skills relevant to thriving in a tech or startup environment are essential.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Support third-party risk management and due diligence review of vendors, including assisting in completing privacy impact assessments.
  • Guide team members broadly at all levels to take action, adopt a different point of view on vendor- and contracts-related decisions
  • Utilize a nuanced understanding of business operations to inform practical solutions or suggestions during contract negotiation and review processes.
  • Lead negotiations with vendors to achieve favourable terms and conditions.
  • Support legal team’s review and negotiation of contracts, ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements. Perform supporting contracting tasks such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA), Proof of Concept (PoC) agreements, Data Privacy and Security  Exhibits, creation of Statements of Work (SOW), Renewals, Addendum and Amendments
  • Manage vendor relationships, including performance evaluations, contract renewals, and issue resolution.
What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement, with a focus on acquiring a wide range of products and services in the financial services industry and/or fintech industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills 
  • Deep understanding of tech tools/SaaS (e.g., data flows, APIs, security protocols, etc.) 
  • Experience in a tech or startup environment, understanding the pace, agility, and adaptability required. Experience using Slack, JIRA, Notion, Google Workspace strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • General understanding of legal implications in procurement and ideally familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., PIPEDA, OSFI B-10).
  • Ability to apply business acumen to negotiate and review contracts effectively.
  • Knowledge of third-party risk management and due diligence processes, including privacy impact assessments is a plus.
  • Experience in the fintech industry or banking is a plus.

Target Base Salary Range
$120,000$150,000 CAD
