Job description

  • Job Title: Senior Marketing Executive 
  • Level & Responsibility: This role is at Senior Executive level.
  • Salary: £33,000+ per annum, depending on experience plus a 10% bonus scheme 
  • Location & Hybrid Working: This can be a fully remote role if desired, however you will need to be able to travel into either the Leeds or Manchester office occasionally when required

The role

We are looking for a Senior Marketing Executive to join our Marketing team at SMG. In this role, you will take ownership of delivering impactful marketing initiatives, with a strong focus on the planning and execution of our flagship event, Retail Media Summit UK. You will also contribute to managing awards submissions, crafting compelling content, and driving engagement through LinkedIn and PR activities.

For the Retail Media Summit UK, you will oversee all aspects of the event, including venue sourcing, supplier coordination, speaker liaison, project management, budget management, and ensuring flawless execution on the day. Beyond this flagship event, you’ll support other initiatives that elevate our brand visibility and reputation.

You’ll be a confident communicator, a creative thinker, and highly organised, ensuring all projects are delivered to a high standard and on time. Working closely with the marketing team and external stakeholders, you’ll play a pivotal role in maintaining our position as industry leaders.

  • Proven experience in managing marketing projects, particularly large-scale events, awards, and content creation.
  • Strong experience in event planning, including venue sourcing, supplier negotiation, project management, and on-the-day execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for LinkedIn and PR purposes.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a proven ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable liaising with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of marketing analytics tools and metrics is preferred but not essential.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to align marketing efforts with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Flagship Event – Retail Media Summit UK: Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of the summit, including:
  • Venue sourcing and negotiation
  • Supplier sourcing and management
  • Speaker and agenda coordination
  • Project management and timeline tracking
  • Budget oversight and cost control
  • On-the-day execution, ensuring the event runs seamlessly
  • Post-event analysis and reporting

  • Other Events & Awards: Support the planning, organisation, and execution of additional events and awards submissions, ensuring impactful representation of our brand.
  • Content Creation: Craft engaging content for various channels, including blogs, case studies, and website updates.
  • LinkedIn & Social Media: Develop and execute strategies to enhance our presence on LinkedIn, creating engaging posts that showcase our work and culture.
  • PR Initiatives: Collaborate with external PR partners to craft and distribute press releases and other materials.
  • Marketing Strategy: Contribute to the development of the wider marketing strategy, sharing innovative ideas and insights.
