Key Position Details:

Position will be hybrid - remote and onsite at a variety of Allina locations.

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shifts
  • No weekends--No major holidays

Job Description:

Serves as a legal advisor and advocate to the system on matters of labor law and labor relations. Works with business unit leaders to determine their objectives, and by developing legal and labor relations strategies and tactics to engage the unions to achieve those objectives. Key duties include negotiating collective bargaining agreements, representing the company in proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, participating in grievance arbitrations, day-to-day counseling regarding labor law, labor relations matters and more.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Develops strategies and tactics to achieve the system's patient care and business objectives when matters of labor law and/or labor relations are implicated.
    • Advises the company on all labor law and labor relations matters including bargaining obligations, contract interpretation, information requests, unit composition, employee discipline, release of labor law claims, work stoppages, picketing, protected and concerted activities, union organizing, grievance and arbitration procedures legal proceedings and more.
    • Negotiates collective bargaining agreements and letters of understanding.
    • Represents the company before the National Labor Relations Board in regard to representation and unfair labor practice matters and other legal proceedings.
    • Represents the company in labor arbitrations and in grievance proceedings.
    • Researches, analyzes and interprets existing labor laws and ordinances, court/agency/arbitration decisions, pending legislation and other legal authorities and preparing privileged work product and/or attorney-client communications regarding a labor law or other legal matter.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in law
  • 5+ years of labor law or labor relations experience

Pay Range

Pay Range: $69.90 to $96.71 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience and education. Additional incentives may be available, including discretionary monetary bonuses, goal-based bonuses, and other financial incentives.
