Technical & Regulatory Specialist at Sourcefit

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Technical & Regulatory Specialist with a background in Food Science and at least two years of experience in the food industry. The ideal candidate will manage product specifications, ensure regulatory compliance, oversee identity-preserved programs, and support quality assurance across all manufacturing sites. This role also involves collaboration with design, marketing, and supply chain teams to maintain consistency in product packaging and documentation. Experience with U.S., E.U., or Australian food companies is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Product Specifications Management:

• Run formulas through software to create Nutrition Facts Panels for each SKU.
• Generate Ingredient Statements from Culinary Formulas.
• Develop and maintain a product specification document for each SKU.
• Maintain an orderly document control system for all specification data.

Design Calendar Management:

• Manage the Brand Design Calendar to ensure product packaging aligns with product innovation and recipe updates.
• Prioritize projects according to the Brand Design Calendar and operational needs.
• Execute packaging changes with print vendors and graphics agents.
• Participate in the Prepress Team to proofread labels.

Identity-Preserved Programs Management:

• Oversee daily operations of all IP programs, including adding new products, managing Halal reporting, GFCO testing reports, and renewing certifications.
• Coach and mentor team members on Saffron Road Identity-Preserved (IP) programs, such as Non-GMO Project, Organic, Halal, Gluten-Free, and Kosher certifications.

FSQA Support:

• Provide FSQA oversight at all manufacturing sites.

Consumer Complaint Response & Analysis:

• Respond to quality-related consumer complaints as assigned by the Marketing Team.
• Analyze consumer complaint data to identify trends and escalate potential quality issues with copackers.

Quality Event Troubleshooting:

• Collaborate with copackers and vendors to promptly identify and resolve quality issues (RC-CAPA, etc.).

Regulatory Guidance and Support:

• Stay informed on regulatory changes impacting the industry and assist the team in understanding and addressing these changes.
• Support the FSVP program.
• Manage label submissions to USDA and handle time-sensitive exception requests.

Retailer Compliance Maintenance:

• Ensure compliance with retailer-specific regulatory platforms (e.g., Repositrak, FoodLogiQ).

Miscellaneous/Trade Setup:

• Maintain and update club retailer commitment paperwork.
• Complete required documentation for brokers and retailers for new item setup.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the food industry, preferably with a U.S., E.U., or Australian food company.
• Strong knowledge of product specification management and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with identity-preserved programs common in the E.U. and Australia (Non-GMO, Organic, Halal, Gluten-Free, Kosher) is advantageous.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across multiple departments.
• Proficiency with relevant software tools for nutritional analysis and label generation.
