About the Role:

The Business Development Manager-Mining plays a critical role in developing and executing the sales strategy for mineral processing solutions across the mining market in USA, Canada, and Latin America, resulting in growth of market share and strengthened customer relationships. This role includes management and mentorship of a team of in-house sales professionals, as well as collaboration with Regional Sales Managers to manage an external network of sales agents. As an experienced mining industry professional with a strong background in sales, the Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Laboratory Services, and Aftermarket teams to leverage technical expertise and offer full-service support throughout the project lifecycle. Their expertise and leadership will result in revenue growth supporting global sales strategy and guiding strategic plans. This role provides the opportunity to significantly impact industry-leading projects and enhance customer engagement across various mining and mineral processing applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients, consultants, and engineering companies in the mining sector, ensuring strong partnerships and customer loyalty.
  • Strategic sales travel with an emphasis on new business development of key accounts in concert with the area sales representatives or sales channels.
  • Represent Eriez at mining industry trade shows and other professional society meetings, including the organization of technical papers and presentations on mineral processing solutions.
  • Drive the expansion of the company's market presence by identifying new applications and diversifying the product portfolio.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the mining sector, focusing on the integration of flotation and magnetic product offerings.
  • Develop appropriate sales channels, including direct sales representatives and external sales agents.
  • Collaborate closely with process engineering, laboratory services and aftermarket teams to leverage technical expertise and offer full-service support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform market analyses to determine customer needs and competitive landscape, including regular assessment of volume potential and margin targets.
  • Manage and mentor a team of in-house sales professionals, including a sales manager, technical sales representatives, and sales support staff.
  • Manage and evaluate field representation/sales channels in coordination with Regional Sales Managers.
  • Manage commercial proposals for equipment, aftermarket, and services including negotiation of terms and conditions.
  • Participate in key customer visits for laboratory and pilot testing to support project development phases.
  • Conduct sales training of fellow team members, customers, agents and affiliates as appropriate.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports including sales volumes and projections.
  • Manage equipment and aftermarket sales orders from acceptance through delivery, including project schedules, change management, document control, engineering coordination, fabrication, and field services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years in sales, marketing, engineering, and/or operations in the mining and minerals processing industry
  • Strong understanding of mineral processing and technical solutions related to flotation and magnetic products
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage strategic sales initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor direct reports with strong supervisory skills
  • Working understanding of commercial aspects for projects including the ability to review terms & conditions and participate in project contract negotiations
  • Outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
  • A willingness to travel extensively
