Coding Quality Review Specialist

Location: Remote

Salary Range: $87,000K to $104,000 annually
Job Type: Full-time; In-office

What Will You Do?
As a Coding Quality Review (CQR) Specialist, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate quality reviews for inpatient and outpatient coding across multiple Health Information Management Service Centers (HSCs).
  • Perform routine, pre-bill, policy-driven, and incentive plan-driven coding reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to national coding guidelines and company policies to guarantee accuracy and compliance.
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of medical coding practices and participate in special reviews or projects.
  • Maintain productivity and accuracy standards, achieving at least 95% in both metrics.
  • Stay current on all official data quality standards, coding guidelines, policies, and clinical/medical resources.

What Will You Need?

  • Education: Undergraduate degree in HIM/HIT preferred (Associate's or Bachelor's).
  • Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, and/or IP Coding Auditor for MS-DRG required.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 10+ years of hands-on medical coding experience.
  • At least 3 years of MS-DRG auditing experience in a hospital setting.
  • Broad experience across all body systems; specialists in one area (e.g., orthopedics) are not eligible.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of medical coding practices, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Location: Please note that we cannot hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, New York, or Colorado for this position.
  • Assessment: Completion of a coding test (20 multiple choice/true/false and 5-7 open-ended behavioral questions; 90 minutes) is required.
