Data Platform Engineering team is a high performing technology team with a mission to Build and support a secure, scalable, frictionless, self-service data platform that enables business teams to rapidly build quality, compliant data products. We build and maintain Data Platform infrastructure that include data storage, pipelines, reporting and analytics workbench. We bring the right tools/practices in the data domain into Group 1001 to maintain our competitive advantage

Role

  • Build and maintain Data Platform infrastructure that include data storage, pipelines, reporting and analytics workbench
  • Be educated on the advances and developments in the Data, Analytics and Data sciences
  • Bring the right tools/practices to Group 1001 to maintain our competitive advantage
  • Own the Data side of the organization’s digital transformation by helping applications and teams move to modern data platforms and tools
  • Partner with Business Groups, Analytics engineers and other stake holders to understand business needs
  • Data Platform Engineer's roles DO NOT include: They do not have capacity to go in-depth to understand specific Data products or data sets nor will they build ETL pipelines

Responsibility

  • Work with Analytics Engineers and other users to understand requirements for the data infrastructure
  • Engineer and code the Data Platform Build Infrastructure & Configuration using code (Terraform, Ansible)
  • Unit and integration testing of platform and platform products
  • Monitor Infrastructure to ensure it performs per SLAs
  • Monitor cost/utilization across the platform and advice stakeholders about any spike in usage
  • Publish best practices and standards for Data Platform tools
  • Help debug and resolve data product teams technical issues
  • Solution Architecture consultation for new data product teams so they can rapidly and successfully adopt our data platform

Skills Needed

  • Good understanding of Modern Data Stack and Data Engineering Cloud computing expertise - AWS/Azure/GCP
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc)
  • Python development experience Scripting experience (bash, python, c#, command line, etc)
  • Experience with platform observability tools like Datadog
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts
  • Experience implementing Data Pipeline (ETL) platforms like dbt, Dagster, etc.
  • Knowledge of Reporting and analytics tools Exposure to Data Science Workbench

Compensation:  

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,000/year in our highest geographic market.  Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
