Senior Data Engineer - Greenville, SC or Remote

United Community is on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our innovative team. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of designing, developing, and optimizing our data pipelines and data warehouse. Collaborate with data scientists, architects, and key stakeholders to deliver high-quality, ready-to-use data products that drive actionable insights across our business.

What You’ll Do:

• Innovate: Design, build, and optimize data pipelines for processing structured and unstructured data from various sources.
• Collaborate: Work with data architects to create and maintain data models that support analytical and reporting needs.
• Ensure Quality: Partner with Data Governance and Data Quality teams to monitor and validate data integrity.
• Deliver: Collaborate with BI developers and data stewards to provide well-structured datasets for business stakeholders.
• Engage: Meet with project managers, stakeholders, and third-party teams to review specifications and establish requirements.
• Optimize: Identify and resolve inefficiencies in production data pipelines.
• Mentor: Guide junior data engineers towards best practices and effective development methods.
• Lead: Drive development efforts for large projects with minimal oversight.
• Document: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows, products, pipelines, and procedures.
• Comply: Adhere to all regulatory and compliance requirements and participate in required training.
• Adapt: Take on additional duties as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience:

• 7+ years in data engineering with a proven track record in building and managing large-scale data pipelines and infrastructures.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Required Skills:

• Expertise in data architectures and modeling techniques.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
• Hands-on experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, Redshift, and Fabric.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Proficiency in pipeline tools such as DBT, Coalesce, and SSIS.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and change management.
• Excellent communication skills for discussing data needs with non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and mentor others.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in banking or financial institutions.
• Familiarity with data quality tools like DQ Labs.
• Snowflake / SnowPro certifications.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security best practices.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Up to 25% travel required.
