Job Description:

GDIT is currently seeking a Wireless Network Administrator to support the Ship Repair Facility in Japan.  This position provides management of the data communications network in Yokosuka, Japan.
 
As a Wireless Network Administrator supporting SRF, you will be responsible for enterprise-wide oversight and coordination of voice, video, radio frequency and/or data communications networks. This position is chartered with reducing risks and limiting exposure to IT systems, networks, and applications. This position utilizes strong policy and process knowledge as well as skills and expertise with a variety of technologies.

*Contract funding will end 3/31/2025*

How the Wireless Network Engineer will make an impact:


* Local Area Network (LAN) & Campus Area Network (CAN) Engineering
* Coordination of system maintenance, monitoring and installation of multiple WAN/LAN environments encompassing multiple specializations, platforms and technologies.
* Assist with research and implementation of enterprise system-wide network solutions/capabilities/enhancements to support customer business/mission goals and objectives.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and/or components.
* Evaluate and monitor health and performance of the network including hardware and management software.
* Develop and maintain a road map for capabilities, operations, and technologies.
* Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation.
* Support network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization efforts to ensure attainment of performance and availability objectives.
* Evaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance capacity, performance and reliability of the network.
* Evaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization and industry best practices.
* Follows all Customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies.
* Represent customer requirements in tech exchanges with other DOD agencies.

* Perform site surveys to new installations and technology refresh.
* Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams.
* Ensure compliance with DOD and SRF policy and requirements.
* Experience with configuring and maintaining Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers (WLC)
* Integration of Wireless infrastructure with Prime infrastructure.
* Experience with wireless surveying.

What you'll need to be successful:


* 8+ years related technical experience in Network and Transport technologies, tools, and techniques, with 4+ years of experience with large-scale enterprise/global networks in a high paced diverse environment.

* In-depth understanding and experience with the DOD Architecture Framework and other key DOD network architecture and strategic planning instructions.
* Installation, operations, and maintenance of Cisco and Juniper, switches, routers, Virtual Private Network (VPN) appliances and VPN clients.
* Installation, operations, and maintenance of Network analysis tools and management systems (Cisco Network Analysis Modules, Cisco Prime, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), etc.).
* Installation, operations, and maintenance of Cisco firewall/VPN equipment (Firepower, Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA), Firewall Services Module (FWSM), etc.).
* Experience with supporting IP services for Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) services (IPv4, VPN, IPv6, Multicast, Quality of Service (QOS), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), Voice Over IP (VOIP), etc.).
* Experience with Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Patch First (OSPF), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and multicast.
* Utilizing change and configuration management processes and procedures (Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
* Experience with Web Proxy and IPS technologies.

* Experience supporting and maintaining large scale wireless networks
* Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

* Upon start of employment on contract, must meet the following DOD 8570 Baseline requirements: IAT Level II

Desired certifications:

CWDP (Certified Wireless Network Professional)

CWSP (Certified Wireless Security Professional)

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
