About the Role
Within the VxWorks Operating Systems team, we innovate technologies that will modernize the embedded VxWorks operating system and our Hypervisor solution to enable our Edge Device customers. We are seeking an engineering manager to oversee a highly skilled team developing the next generation kernel technologies for VxWorks.
The successful candidate will manage and work with a skilled team to plan and drive execution of projects and feature development, while following well defined Agile processes. The candidate will collaborate cross-functionally with architects, technologists, product managers, remote development teams, and customer-facing teams to deliver capabilities on our flagship VxWorks RTOS. The candidate will manage the team to develop high performing, good usability, and high-quality capabilities for the product.
Responsibilities
- Manages team priorities and assignments.
- Engage with engineering program managers to create development project plans
- Collaborates with architects/senior developers and product managers to define, estimate, and plan feature development.
- Work with Agile Scrum Teams and lead the team to design, implement, and refine feature development, testing, and processes.
- Oversees project logistics and resource allocation.
- Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs
- Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including helping to identify hardware needs, tools needs, staffing needs, etc.
- Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies.
- Communicates and engages with the field and customers on product and technology information.
- Collaborates with other team leaders and departments.
Qualifications
- BSc or higher degree (Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering) or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of managing teams doing software development
- 10+ years working in software development area

- Good understanding of Real Time Operating System concepts
It will be great if you also have:
- Knowledge and experience with software development tools such as
- Git, GitLab, Jenkins, JIRA
- Familiarity with Agile and continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) or DevSecOps concepts.
- Software engineering experience with the full development lifecycle and processes, Agile and scrum project management tools (e.g. Jira); Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM, CSPO) are a plus
- Familiarity with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and RTOS development tools

Compensation
The annual base salary range for this role’s listed grade level is $170,000 to $220,000 plus a bonus for Colorado, New York, and New Jersey residents, and $198,000 to $260,000 plus a bonus for SF Bay Area, Greater Seattle, NYC, and Washington, DC, residents. Salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities of the applicant, and equity with other team members. Employees in this role are also eligible for the following benefits in accordance with the terms of the Company's plans: health, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, flex time off, eligibility to enroll in 401k, and 12 paid holidays.
