The Role

We're looking for a passionate nursing leader to join us as a Director of Nursing. You will report to the Head of Nursing. This is a Full-time Hybrid position located in Phoenix, AZ serving Maricopa County. The Director of Nursing (DON) leads and directs clinical operations within the home health sector, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care, regulatory compliance, and staff performance. As a senior leader, the DON collaborates with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives, fosters a culture of excellence and empathy, and champions the growth and development of the clinical team. This role oversees all clinical operations and provides critical leadership to clinic leads, case managers, and supporting staff, ensuring alignment with Abby Care’s mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership and Vision:
    • Develop clinical strategies supporting Abby Care’s mission for children and families with special needs and chronic illnesses.
    • Collaborate with leadership to set goals, evaluate outcomes, and improve quality.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and excellence within clinical teams.
  • Operational Oversight: 
    • Manage daily clinical operations, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Align staffing and resource allocation with organizational needs to support optimal patient care.
    • Lead quality assurance programs and compliance efforts to maintain clinical efficacy and patient safety.
  • Clinical Excellence and Quality of Care: 
    • Ensure clinical staff adhere to evidence-based practices and regulatory standards.
    • Oversee patient care delivery to uphold excellence, ethics, and compassion.
    • Lead performance reviews and professional development for Clinical Nurse Managers and their teams, fostering continuous growth.
  • Team Management and Development:
    • Mentor Clinical Nurse Managers, providing tools for effective leadership and professional growth.
    • Hold leadership meetings to evaluate team performance, address challenges, and implement improvement plans.
    • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to build a strong, resilient clinical team.
  • Patient Advocacy and Family-Centered Care:
    • Advocate for patient- and family-centered care, ensuring compassionate and responsive interactions.
    • Address patient and family concerns with professionalism, providing solutions to enhance satisfaction.
    • Cultivate a welcoming, empathetic environment for all patients and families under Abby Care’s supervision.
  • Financial and Resource Management:
    • Collaborate with finance to develop, monitor, and manage the clinical budget to align with organizational priorities.
    • Implement cost-effective practices without compromising patient care quality, optimizing the use of resources and staff.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Adherence:
    • Ensure all clinical practices comply with federal, state, and local regulations, and maintain comprehensive documentation.
    • Lead quality audits and coordinate with compliance to address findings, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
    • Stay informed of changes in healthcare regulations, guiding staff through policy updates and maintaining full compliance.
The Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s in Nursing (MSN) preferred
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona, with multistate/compact state eligibility if applicable
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a clinical setting
  • Must reside in Arizona, preferably in the Phoenix area with a valid driver’s license
  • Effective communication and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

This is a Full-time position with an anticipated compensation of $110,000-$120,000 annual salary + bonus and benefits.
