The Opportunity 

As a Senior Engineer on the Data Services Engineering team you will develop innovative database solutions and will be responsible for creating architecture diagrams, such as C4 and System Landscapes and drive the architecture for software platform capability. Data Services are the essential core services for FICO’s Platform initiative You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across product management, architecture, and consumers to craft dynamic database services.” - Senior Director-Software Engineering 

What You’ll Contribute 

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support the capabilities of a large world-class enterprise-level platform.

  • Work with stakeholders to comprehend and provide feedback on business requirements for your software platform capability.

  • Collaborate with product managers to understand priorities and usage scenarios of product features.

  • Collaborate with user experience personnel to understand personas within usage scenarios.

  • Collaborate with architects to drive the architecture for your software platform capability.

  • Collaborate within working groups of software engineers to create software engineering standards, guidance, and processes.

  • Continuously improve engineering practices for the software platform to support efficiency, reliability, and serviceability goals.

  • Assist research, case studies and prototypes on technologies to ensure the software platform remains the leading decisioning platform.

  • Collaborate with QA engineers to design and implement non-functional tests.

  • Share ownership in quality, test automation, continuous integration and delivery, and production operation.

  • Quickly escalate challenges and risks incurred during projects. 

  • Coach other software engineers on creating their domain designs and Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers.

What We’re Seeking

  • Hands on experience with Java (Java 17 and later), Spring, Spring Boot, Maven/Gradle, Docker, Git, and GitHub.

  • Strong experience in both high-level and low-level system design.

  • Proven experience in creating and presenting architecture diagrams, such as C4 models and system landscapes.

  • Deep understanding and hands on experience with cloud engineering, particularly with Kubernetes and AWS/Azure/GCP platforms.

  • In-depth understanding of Microservices Architecture, Principles, and Patterns.

  • Skilled in implementing RESTful and gRPC APIs.

  • Strong experience with data engineering services such as Graph databases (Neo4j/AWS Neptune), MongoDB, and RDBMS.

  • Experience with databases, including Neo4j, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Cassandra.

  • Experience with Agile or Scaled Agile software development processes.

  • Experience in developing scalable, highly available, and high-performance applications for cloud environments.

  • A solid foundation in software design principles, design models, and database structures.

  • Strong documentation abilities, with exposure to Confluence is preferred.

  • Understanding of the design and development strategies necessary to build scalable and resilient services.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting and discussing designs with architects and facilitating technical discussions with teams.

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in computer science or related discipline, or relevant experience in software architecture, design, development, and testing.
