Job description

Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Manager, Mission Support (Planning) to join Team Rubicon's Programs Mission Support team! The Manager, Mission Support (Planning) will lead a motivated team of associates to support volunteer leaders in the daily execution of the goals and objectives of the organization. This requires a detailed understanding of all specific functions within the Programs team. The Manager, Mission Support (Planning) will have a solid knowledge of the incident command system and expertise in planning, mobilization, and demobilization operations. The Manager, Operations Mission Support (Planning) will be responsible for supporting standards, processes and procedures for disaster response, recovery, and mitigation operations.

Every day will be a challenge, but every month brings new opportunities for an organization that is quickly becoming a household name in disaster response. This position reports to TR’s Deputy Director, Field Leadership & Training and is remote based within the United States. 

Duties:

  • Develop Planning Associates and set Planning function improvement priorities.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement efforts of organizational and mission planning processes and systems for the Programs Department.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise and educate the organization of mission planning and execution best practices.
  • Develop a cohesive, high-performing team with goals and objectives, offer specific feedback on individual performance, and solicit feedback regularly.
  • Support the delivery of Team Rubicon’s missions, capabilities, and services in coordination with Branch Operations leaders.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with locally focused partners.
  • Assist with planning and budgeting according to National operational tempo.

Education and Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 yearsof relevant professional experience in the military, disaster response, emergency management or first responder fields
  • Proven record of personnel management experience such as recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers 
  • Proficient with technology tools and in remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff members, Greyshirts (volunteers), and external stakeholders  
  • Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired 

Special Requirements: 

  • This is a full-time; remote position and can be based anywhere within the United States and provides a flexible & non-traditional work schedule (relocation expenses not provided)
  • Evening and weekend schedules supporting leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations
  • Other Travel: At least 25% non-local travel to support broader organizational activities

  • $68,149.45 - $116,163.84 per year
