Financial Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assist/coordinate the month and year end closing processes including the preparation of financial statements and other management reports including international reporting and consolidations.

• Assist in annual audit. Prepare analysis and summaries as required.

• Provide analysis and materials for V.P. of Finance for Board meetings, banking renewals, and special analysis or requests from parent.

• Assist in implementing, documenting, and trouble shooting of continuous improvements in the areas of financial reporting, line of business reporting, closing, internal controls, and cross functional processes.

• The development, implementation, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.

• Prepare and present educational information to other employees.

• Plan and execute physical inventory process including remote inventory locations. Assist in reconciliation process and present results to management.

• Analysis of financial and accounting items as required.

• Assist in the development and implementation of the general accounting system. Provide continuous improvement ideas for internal controls and processes.

• Anticipate and address accounting problems and recommend solutions. Remain informed on current and evolving accounting issues, AICPA exposure drafts, pronouncements and other available literature.

• Understand international accounting and consolidation and book entries monthly.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Arts degree and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA, CPA, or CMA is desired.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must possess knowledge in internal controls for closing. Must possess sound
technical accounting abilities including a thorough understanding of the accounting cycle. Microsoft Office knowledge and intermediate database skills are required, including relational database. Ability to make decisions and work independently.
