The Importance of the Role
The Senior Director, US Area Manager Team East serves as a regional team leader in the East and is responsible for achieving regional sales goals by leading a team of Duchenne Areas Managers (DAMs), developing a regional strategic business plan, communicating disease and product knowledge to healthcare professional customers and coordinating cross-functional field teams within their assigned geography. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, drive for results, understand market dynamics, demonstrate excellent judgment, and be motivated by the desire to improve patients' lives.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference
- Manage, develop and lead a team of Duchenne Area Managers in assigned region.
- Responsible for team performance at the individual and regional level which contributes to national performance including recruiting and training as needed.
- Foster a team culture of ownership, accountability, initiative, and engagement throughout the team by regularly communicating Sarepta’s core values, business objectives, desired performance outcomes and future actions to realize those outcomes.
- Direct promotion of safe and effective use Sarepta’s FDA approved products in accordance with the product label and with company training and policies.
- Ensure appropriate resource allocation to meet customer needs and address gaps.
- Responsible for managing strategic and tactical business plans for the region.
- Interact with DMD stakeholders in assigned geography.
- Stay current on the DMD environment; maintain in-depth knowledge of disease, local drivers, treatment and referral patterns, key account profiles, influence patterns, reimbursement, and barriers to optimal care.
- Work collaboratively across functional areas to achieve common goals and address issues.
- Facilitate the coordination of internal and external resources to enhance patient care in the region.
- Attend and lead meetings, as well as take on projects and other duties, as requested by senior management.
- Exercises sound judgment and adheres to relevant regulatory and compliance guidelines and company policies.
- Anticipate trends impacting the company’s promotional strategies and develop appropriate action plans to address the risks and opportunities.
- Analyze reports on team performance metrics and CRM input to identify business trends, opportunities, obstacles, gaps and areas for improvement.
- Conduct Performance Reviews, provide coaching and support for regional team to keep them motivated and driven toward their individual and regional goals; work collaboratively with direct reports to build a career development plan.
- Establish and maintain effective regional and cross-regional communications.
- Participate in development and implementation of sales strategy, and associated tactics
- Partner with Marketing Lead(s) to ensure effective execution of key initiatives that align with product strategy and support achievement of national and regional sales goals.
- Work on ad-hoc projects as necessary.
More about You
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from an accredited school required, MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 13+ years of sales experience required in the rare disease/biotechnology space.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience with at least 1 pharmaceutical/biotech launch and proven track record of and passion for developing and leading a high-performing team is preferred; internal candidates that have been identified for and participated in a Sarepta leadership training programs/courses will be considered.
- Neuromuscular, Pediatric Neurology or other specialty experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory and enforcement environments.
- Excellent leadership/coaching skills with proven record of performance (consistently in the top 10% of sales force).
- Proficient with CRM platform (i.e. Veeva, Salesforce, etc.).
- Demonstrates passion for improving DMD patient care delivery and strong customer orientation and insight.
- Demonstrates team-based skills and is able to network across boundaries.
- Embraces and adopts new technologies and techniques and is highly competent in a multitude of IT capabilities to support the business needs.
- Product launch in rare disease experience highly desired.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Embraces continuous learning/seeks knowledge.
- Valid driver’s license and in good standing.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.

This position is remote. However, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta's facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.
The targeted salary range for this position is $216,000 - $270,000 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta’s compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
