Position Summary:
The Data Analyst, Economic Research will contribute to the Zonda Economics team’s data collection and analysis efforts, including the development and maintenance of research and data processes focused on the homebuilding industry. The ideal candidate is a strong analytical thinker with data and coding skills, particularly in Python and R. The candidate will also possess written communication skills and a passion for data-driven storytelling.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain monthly research processes and reports, including housing and economic data collection and distribution as well as administrative tasks.
- Maintain, and later build, economic models and process automation models using Python.
- Collect, organize, and analyze large datasets using advanced Excel skills.
- Maintain regular updates for housing and economic market reports, for metro areas and regions throughout the country.
- With guidance, transform complex data into clear and actionable insights through data visualization and storytelling techniques.
- Improve upon existing processes by building deeper research techniques and integrating automation and efficiencies.
- With direction, write comprehensive and engaging housing market research reports, including executive summaries, data analysis, and actionable recommendations.
- Conduct in-depth research on various aspects of the homebuilding industry, including regional differences, market trends, and economic indicators.
- Share research findings with internal and external stakeholders clearly and concisely.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, statistics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Python. Experience with other data analysis tools is a plus (e.g., SQL, R).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Works well with deadlines and competing priorities.
- Experience and/or interest in the housing or real estate industry is helpful.
