Job description

At Branch, we’re transforming how brands and users interact across digital platforms. Our mobile marketing and deep linking solutions are trusted to deliver seamless experiences that increase ROI, decrease wasted spend, and eliminate siloed attribution. Our Branch team consists of smart, humble, and collaborative people who value ownership over all. Everything we do is centered around creating a great product, team, and company that lives and breathes our motto: Build Together, Grow Together, Win Together.

You’ll be joining a fast-moving team dedicated to building an ads platform that serves 110M+ Daily Active Users (DAU), powering the next generation of mobile app discovery for potentially billions of devices worldwide. We’re looking for someone who's excited to work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to address complex challenges of acquiring, understanding, and ranking content—and now, delivering highly performant, scalable ads at massive scale. Working with our team means you’ll get the opportunity to learn and grow daily, interfacing with both technical and non-technical team members, and collaborating with external partners.

Join our team and see your contributions have an immediate impact on not just the company, but the mobile ecosystem as a whole!

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll get to:
  • Own the development of a high-scale ads platform serving 110M+ DAU, leading critical initiatives to ensure reliable and scalable ad delivery.
  • Support and mentor a diverse group of engineers, helping them grow as technologists and leaders.
  • Be responsible for continuously improving your team’s productivity and ensuring the success of our ads platform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage and prioritize new feature development, ongoing support, and technical debt for large-scale ad serving systems.
  • Guide your team through in-depth technical planning discussions with engineers, product, and design; empower them to make effective decisions on ads platform architecture and implementation.
  • Remove roadblocks for your team, escalating when you need additional context or direction.
  • Promote a culture of feedback and transparent communication, ensuring your team remains tightly aligned with Branch’s goals.
  • Establish measurable goals for your team’s productivity, including metrics that measure ads platform health (latency, uptime, fill rate, revenue, etc.).
  • Coordinate with other engineering managers and directors across the organization to architect and implement complex systems that integrate with the entire Branch product suite.
  • Champion best practices for performance, reliability, and security of the ads platform, ensuring we can handle real-time traffic spikes.
You’ll be a good fit if you have:
  • 5+ years of experience in Engineering with 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager or technical lead who has coached and mentored other engineers.
  • A track record of building and scaling products in fast-paced environments, ideally with a focus on ads or similar high-traffic platforms.
  • Proficiency in Java, with the willingness to dive into any language or technology as needed.
  • Familiarity with large-scale ads platforms (e.g., building and optimizing real-time bidding systems, integrating with major ad networks, or leveraging third-party ads APIs).
  • A strong ability to follow through, stay organized, and juggle multiple tasks without losing track of anything. You have a keen sense of prioritization, and can align day-to-day tasks with larger strategic initiatives.
  • A self-starter mindset: ownership, accountability, initiative, and urgency
  • Excellent communication skills, both within and outside of the team.
  • An ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment by bringing order to chaos & identifying / solving emergent issues proactively.
