What We Seek

The VP of Product Management, Literacy and Languages works in collaboration with the Chief Literacy and Languages Officer and the VP of Instructional Design, Literacy and Languages to drive the vision and the strategy of the Literacy and Languages product lines. The VP of Product Management ensures that the products meet specific needs for key markets by supporting user and market research, interfacing with Sales and Sales Enablement, Customer Success, PL, and Customer Support and staying apprised of the competitive landscape. The VP owns the product strategy and vision, working collaboratively with platform, design, digital authoring, engineering, project management to help evolve the Literacy and Languages department’s ability to innovate and execute in an environment of rapid expansion.

 

What Your Day Will Look Like

  • Serve on the leadership team in the Literacy and Languages division
  • Own the product strategy & vision in collaboration with the Chief Literacy and Languages Officer and the VP of Instructional Design, Literacy and Languages
  • Lead the product vision process and serve as the voice of the customer to create engaging print and digital curriculum for the K-12 Literacy and Languages markets
  • Own product business lines and work closely with Sales, Finance, Product Marketing, Content Marketing, Customer Success, Customer Support, and PL to ensure product market success
  • Plan, manage, update and communicate the product roadmap across the company
  • Recruit, motivate, and grow the product management team, driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Support Product Managers in doing User and Market Research to understand the needs of the teachers, students, and administrators.
  • Support Product Managers in leading the Definition and Ideation phases to layout a unique path for engaging teachers and learners and driving accelerated learning.
  • Support Product Managers in the Prototyping and Testing phases in collaboration with Instructional Design, Design, User Research, Platform, Digital Authoring and assigned engineers to vet the concept and the design.
  • Use data to inform all decisions regarding the roadmap and priorities of all Literacy product lines
  • Research technologies that can help improve the Literacy products and initiate conversations as needed.
  • Lead all communications with Product Marketing about Literacy products
  • Cultivate and maintain strong market knowledge including trends and competition

 

What Should Be In Your Bookbag

  • 7-10 years of product management and/or product ownership experience.
  • BA or BS in Business, Education, or English/Communications-related field.
  • Certified Product Owner by a renowned agency, a plus.
  • Teaching experience, a plus.
  • Management experience, a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of product management and product development best practices, both in waterfall and in Agile environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to ideate, prototype, and test new ideas and products, with a successful track record of launching educational apps and products that have succeeded in the Edtech market.
  • Ability to analyze data to provide accurate and thorough reports and make presentations about complex business problems and solutions.
  • Disposition to solve problems relentlessly.
  • Expert communicator with the ability to write and present to executive teams.
  • A thirst for educational innovation, especially in Literacy
  • Keen attention to staying up-to-date with the latest trends, policies, and best practices in Literacy education and product management
  • Desire and ability to foster a culture of innovation, teamwork, collaboration, and flexibility.
  • Deep knowledge of literacy apps, literacy programs, and other literacy artifacts that use technology to enhance engagement and learning.
  • Intellectual curiosity, an unstoppable desire to grow a business and a positive attitude.
