Altarum is actively seeking a highly motivated, temporary, health care-focused Marketing Communications Content Writer to support our ongoing corporate marketing and communication efforts. As a crucial member of our organization-wide Marketing Communication team, you will help shape our nonprofit’s brand narrative and fostering impactful connections with diverse audiences. Our team is passionate about making a positive impact and we are looking for a talented writer to join us on a temporary basis for Q1 and Q2 2025. 

Position Overview: 

We are seeking a creative and motivated Content Writer with health care experience to join our team from approximately January to May/June. This temporary role focuses on content creation, including interviewing subject matter experts, then writing stories for various marketing initiatives. The Content Developer will support general marketing efforts, talent acquisition, internal communications, and other communications projects. This is a fast-paced environment with the vibrant energy of a newsroom, where content and supporting artwork demand rapid creation, accuracy, and alignment with our brand. By the end of the term, the Content Developer should expect to have 30+ pieces of content to add to their personal portfolio!

Responsibilities
  • Write compelling content according to brand editorial standards for general marketing purposes, including case studies, new win announcements, conferences, and days of observation. (Visit Altarum’s social handles, news page, and events page of Altarum.org for examples.) 
  • Develop engaging stories and artwork to support talent acquisition campaigns. 
  • Assist in the creation of internal communications materials to enhance employee knowledge, engagement, and retention. 
  • Work closely with team to ensure consistent messaging and branding. 

  • Qualifications
  • Experience in public health and/or health care industry required.  
  • Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related field. 
  • Must have 2-5+ years of prior experience in content creation or communications.  
  • Phenomenal writing and storytelling skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. 
  • Portfolio of writing samples is required. 

  • Logistical Requirements
  • At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
  • Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
  • If you are local to our offices in Arlington, Silver Spring, Novi, or Portland this role will be hybrid (in office on Wednesdays - collaboration days).
  • Must be able to work during eastern time unless approved by your manager.
  • Employees working remotely must have a dedicated, ergonomically appropriate workspace free from distractions with a mobile device that allows for productive and efficient conduct of business.
