Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our team. The Financial Controller will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the organization, guiding financial decision-making, and ensuring compliance with established policies and regulatory standards. This position involves evaluating, analyzing, and reporting financial data while supporting the development and execution of both short- and long-term strategies.


Work Schedule:

  • 20 Hours per week, Monday – Friday either 8 AM - 12 PM PST or Flexible schedule within client business hours PST. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the Accounting Function Day-to-day: 
  • Oversee the accounting function, monitor all financial activities, and supervise accounting personnel.
  • Review current processes and ensure calendar of events and task are outlined and tracked in AirTable
  1. Financial Analysis & Reporting:
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates and insights to company owners by evaluating and analyzing relevant data points.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including biweekly, monthly, and annual summaries and visual dashboards.
  1. Financial Health Monitoring:
  • Monitor and assess the company’s financial health, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures as needed.
  1. Policy Application & Decision-Making:
  • Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures in the context of the current economic landscape.
  1. Budgeting & Strategic Planning:
  • Prepare, implement, and monitor budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Support the development of short- and long-term operational strategies to drive sustainable growth.
  1. Accounting Operations:
  •  Oversee the overall calendar of timely reporting on financial performance by Finance Team, including:

1.      Preparation of monthly management reports and financial statements against budget

2.      Maintain internal bookkeeping systems, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management.

  • Prepare monthly cash flow projections
  • Ensure Audit and tax activities are delivered on time and ensure compliance with local and federal regulations
  • Ensure the consistent application of accounting policies and procedures across all activities.
  1. Internal Controls & Compliance:
  • Establish and enforce internal financial controls and guidelines to safeguard company assets and optimize workflows.
  • Oversee and execute investment requests, expense approvals and purchase order approvals process; monitor patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
  • Stay informed of proposed legislation and ensure adherence to national and local legal standards.

          8. Benchmarking & Performance Monitoring:

  • Implement and maintain company performance measures; setting up dashboards and visual reports [within NetSuite ERP or other solution]
  • Develop and maintain financial and operational benchmarks, program monitoring tools, and reporting standards.
  • Regularly review program performance to ensure alignment with established goals.
    9. Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with Exec and leadership to align financial planning with organizational objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with all departments to review department budgets and monthly department budget reporting



Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CFA designation is a plus).
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role.
  • Ability to manage a capable and experienced Staff Accountant
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles, including GAAP.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and tools, NetSuite experience is a must.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to present financial data clearly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and forecast financial performance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with owners, leadership, and other stakeholders.
