This is a remote role based anywhere within the UK or one of our European countries of operation. You must be a permanent resident of that country and have the right to work there.

The Department
Clear communications are vital to our business. Our Communications Team drives and enables communications via a number of platforms, initiatives and programmes which highlight – and communicate – key strategic messaging for internal and external audiences as well as providing our people with the means to communicate business news about themselves and their teams. We believe that everyone across our business should have access to clear and open communications and that good communications are a company-wide responsibility – and that it is our role to facilitate and enable communications for all.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for the planning and day-to-day management of internal communications for the Group, including championing our company strategy and values, managing our intranet editor, supporting our managers with their internal communications to ensure alignment with our culture, branding and style of communications, acting in an advisory role to our Group-wide Employee Forum, and supporting our business functions with driving best practice for communications activities across the business. In addition, the Communications Manager will support the Director of Communications with external and corporate communications activities, as needed, including logistics and planning for corporate ‘show and tell’ sessions, communications for our ESG activities, management of our corporate fundraising activities and the relationship with our chosen corporate charity, and involvement in the planning and execution of agreed external media relations activities.
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for planning, managing and implementing internal communications, with particular focus on Chassis, our company intranet, and related initiatives to drive engagement with the platform, including implementing new functionality, identifying areas for development, ensuring that each function across the business is active and engaged, helping to determine/set must reads, and using site analytics to help shape editorial policy and decisions.
- Responsibility for managing our Chassis Editor, providing leadership in line with Autovista’s company values and strategy, always leading by example and conveying a professional and positive image and attitude regarding our organisation. Managing the Editor’s performance, setting goals and priorities, and ensuring that expectations are openly and clearly communicated. Supporting the personal development of your team member, providing encouragement, motivation and opportunities for professional growth.
- Overseeing the editorial calendar, driving best-practice, ensuring that we promote and drive engagement and – together with the editor – pushing new content ideas, promoting new functionality and ensuring that SuperUsers are engaged and that all functions across the Group are producing content on a regular (minimum monthly) basis.
- Driving employee engagement activities, such as working with our Director of People & Performance on the design and drafting of employee surveys, feedback initiatives and staff communications, as required.
- Developing and driving awards activities - including Autovista Group employee awards as well as researching, planning and executing external awards submissions (professional awards related to key functions in the business, e.g. journalism, people, ESG)
- Provide support to the Director of Communications (DoC) with communications/PR duties, as required, including managing all third-party contracts for licensing and image purchasing.
- Support video creation/editing for internal audiences for publication on Chassis, including: video briefing, production and editing in accordance with Autovista Group agreed style, the research, exploration and adoption of new video creation/editing techniques and tools, and championing of video as a key communications tool at Autovista Group and on Chassis.
- Maintain our video library which is regularly accessed by employees with the overarching aim of helping to communicate who we are and providing a communications resource for our people.
- Act as key communications support for our Director of People Development; helping to create communications, reference materials and a training library for our people and for our leadership training programmes.
- Act as advisor/facilitator to our Employee Forum, determining – with the Forum – frequency of meetings, arranging guest speakers from the Executive Team and third parties (such as our corporate charity partner), collating Q&As and encouraging the EF as an effective and strong conduit for communications.
- Act as a key internal communications lead for the Head of ESG and ESG SteerCo with specific responsibility for managing and driving our corporate fundraising – and acting as main liaison with our chosen charity and all key fundraising activities. Champion Autovista Group fundraising activities internally, with clear communications that help ensure we are on track to meet our strategic obligations and fundraising target.
- Provide support to DoC in all transition/integration and corporate communications activity in relation to J.D. Power or other acquisitions. For example, helping with logistics, planning, briefing, preparation and execution of Show & Tell sessions with J.D. Power, and other information and collateral sharing initiatives.
- Responsibility for keeping an up-to-date library of executive team headshots and company photos relating to L&D, volunteering, fundraising, ESG, and similar, arranging new photography as and when required, getting sign off with each individual involved for use both internally and externally.
- Assist with other ad hoc communications activities as directed by DoC: for example, photography shoots, events, writing articles, communications design, training, social media, SEO, etc., as needed.
- Deputise for the DoC at meetings, events and project teams, as required.
- Demonstrate the behaviours set out in our Autovista Leadership Competency Framework.
- Always adhering to our Code of Ethics, company policies and rules, and following the requirements of the Group Authority Framework (GAF) for all decisions and authorisations within the GAF.
The Candidate
- A passion for communication – in all its forms – with 3+ years’ experience in an internal communications role.
- Creative communications solution-finder with the ability to see the big picture and identify both risks and opportunities.
- A passion for our business and a confident orator, who will be able to comfortably represent Autovista Group to a variety of audiences both internally and externally.
- Demonstrable skill at stakeholder management at all levels of the organisation, with the ability to build good working relationships with colleagues.
- Experience editing, managing and providing content for an intranet site, with excellent CMS/web editing and content creation skills.
- Articulate and highly skilled at drafting written communications to achieve communication aims, which result in high engagement and understanding, whilst remaining in keeping with company style and culture.
- Commercial understanding and appreciation for our business aims, recognising the value that Communications adds to the top and bottom line of the organisation.
- Strong technical skills – ability to learn new editing programmes quickly and apply these skills internally.
- Experience in video briefing and editing skills with an affinity for working with different video editing tools and technology.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to easily multi-task, prioritise and manage several projects at a time and to deadlines.
- Flexible mindset, able to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
- Prior people management experience would be beneficial. Ability to manage in line with our Autovista Way, company values and culture will be essential.
- Enthusiasm, energy and ability to work well within a team - happy to “muck in” to support team activities - but equally strong working autonomously.
- Fluency in English with excellent copywriting skills and perfect grammar are essential to the role.
- Previous experience of working in a remote environment and with international stakeholders and audiences would be an advantage.
