Job description

Position Summary

The CAC Coordinator will be a primary support to NM’s Community Affiliates (CAs), offering responsive, consistent communication to address day-to-day needs and helping CA leaders understand and interact with CAC policies and procedures. This position centers Native Movement’s commitment to support grassroots leadership via fiscal and administrative partnership, and it requires a high attention to detail, systems, and a sincere interest in deepening relationships.

The CAC Coordinator will work closely with the CAC Manager, Movement Infrastructure Director, the Administrative Team, and CA Directors to support the collective of community groups, continue developing CAC systems, and track relevant program data. They will have the opportunity to learn and work in a collaborative environment, build professional relationships with groups at the forefront of grassroots organizing in Alaska, and be exposed to a breadth of administrative concerns that make running nonprofits possible. This position is instrumental to supporting NM’s Community Affiliate Collective and has room for growth.

Essential Job Function

  • Act as the central point of contact for a portfolio of NM Community Affiliates. Foster ongoing, responsive communication with group leaders, promptly addressing their needs.

    • Support communication through emails, occasional phone calls, and monthly Zoom meetings, or other appropriate means.

    • Share CA account balance updates by collaborating with NM accounting team.

    • Explain & support interaction with NM accounts payable & receivable systems.

    • Support CA interaction with NM’s grant management and other policies.

  • Ensure that documents are properly filed and accessible in CAC virtual file systems.

  • Support data upkeep and propose organizational improvements where applicable.

  • Collaborate with CAC Manager to track and analyze CA requests and support systems, enabling systems improvement and addressing emergent needs.

    • Potential for collaboration on CAC policy creation.

  • Stay updated in the fiscal sponsorship field and NM’s program areas through conferences, other professional activities, and some NM event participation.

Non-Essential Job Functions

  • Additional or shifted responsibilities to be identified as the organization evolves.

  • Some travel to other Alaska locations as needed.

Supervision Received and Exercised

This position will report to the CAC Manager. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. 


Work Environment and Demands of the Role

This position will be based in Alaska either on-site in Fairbanks or Anchorage, or work from home. Generally, the office environment is calm, with some days of higher activity due to organizational events. Some noise from people in the office is expected, and may increase during events. We are a family-friendly workplace, so children of all ages may be present at any time. Dogs are allowed in the office, so there may be occasional barking and dogs walking throughout the building. This position may require travel within the state. Possibility of a flexible schedule and may need to be available for evenings and/or weekends.

The physical demands of this position require the ability to occasionally remain in a stationary position, move or traverse throughout an office and event spaces. Occasionally must be able to transport objects through the office for various needs. Must be able to commute to and from an office and event space. Requires the ability to ascend a flight of stairs, several times a day. Additionally, the employee must be able to exchange information and ideas so that others will understand, receive and understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, and exercise independent judgment. Specific physical demands of the role may vary depending on the location of the selected candidate.
