As the Sr Systems Engineer, the person develops and maintains a stable, reliable, and secure hybrid systems environment. The person collaborates and mentors other admins and NOC personnel to troubleshoot and optimize WebPT’s Systems environment.
This person is expected to have strong knowledge supporting hybrid environments hosted on AWS, Azure, and colo and comprising VMWare/KVM/Hyper-V hypervisor, Windows, and Linux systems, He/She has excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. The person should have a passion to continuously improve services, enhance security and optimize performance.
Responsibilities
Primarily responsible for installation, configuration, support, and lifecycle management of Linux and Windows servers, Directory services, Domain Name Services (DNS), and other services across WebPT’s hybrid data centers.
Manage, upgrade and support the Kubernetes and AWS EKS clusters
Regularly collaborate with the Cyber security and compliance team to understand the newly found risks, plan the fixes and/or mitigation, report on patching progress, and escalate issues and roadblocks.
Own and drive the monthly and off-cycle zero day vulnerability patching.
Enhance the systems observability, performance, availability, and security
Create and maintain runbooks that outline operational procedures
Participate and drive projects to support business initiatives and team goals.
Participate in incidents and complex ticket troubleshooting, their root cause analysis and problem management processes.
Work with compliance and cyber security team to assist with audits, provide compliance and/or regulatory reports and data as needed
Must participate in on-call schedules and weekend/off business hours maintenance when required.
Abilities And Knowledge
Strong experience in managing and supporting Windows, Active Directory, and DNS in a hybrid data center is a MUST.
Experience in Linux, storage, Logical Unit Numbers (LUN), fiber channels, and related technology is required
Experience with AWS and/or Azure is required.
Drive and enhance the patch management operations and look for opportunities to continuously enhance the process and patching procedures.
Experience with Kubernetes and or EKS
Must know automation using scripts and/or configuration and orchestration tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or Chef
Knowledge and understanding of IT service management, relevant industry best practices and standards.
Good critical thinking, decision-making skills and communication skills, including the ability to be influential and persuasive with stakeholders.
Superior time management, juggling with priorities and organizational skills
Education And Experience
Required:
5 years experience as a senior systems engineer with expertise in AD, DNS, Windows and their security
3 plus years’ experience or certifications with AWS and/or Azure is required
Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies
Good understanding of security and related best practices of access management, patch management and backup and recovery, DR and BCP.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience
