As a System Engineer Storage , you will play a key role in the deployment, management, monitoring and optimization of our Syntax Enterprise Cloud storage infrastructure as well as at customer sites and support your colleagues in the administration of backup environments.

Tasks:

• You will work in a European infrastructure team in the storage (NAS, SAN and object storage), SAN and backup area of the Syntax Enterprise Cloud and in dedicated customer environments
• You are mainly responsible for the commissioning, monitoring and operation of the storage systems and also support your colleagues in the operation of the backup environments
• Your expertise and support are expected in the analysis of problems and errors that occur
• Capacity planning and ensuring the correct monitoring of the storage systems are part of your tasks
• Planning and implementation of storage migrations, as well as firmware and application update
• Zoning in the Fibre Channel Storage Area Network infrastructure
• You will work closely with vendors to expand, improve and maintain the environments
• You ensure operations with rolling on-call duty outside of working hours and occasionally support customer projects outside of production hours
• Documentation of work steps in daily operations and documentation for on-call duty

Profile:

• You have a completed apprenticeship or a degree in the IT sector
• Several years of professional experience in the administration of storage systems in large and mission-critical environments
• Several years of professional experience with Netapp:NetApp ONTAP 9NetApp FAS/ASA
• NetApp Storage GRID
• NetApp E-SeriesONTAP command line interface
• You have already worked with Objectstorage and S3 in production environments
• Desirable additional experience with common storage systems and technologies
• PureStorage Flashrray
• HPE3PAR
• Ideally experience in the administration of snapshot backup technologies, SAN (Cisco MDS) and backup environments (Commvault)
• You have scripting knowledge in e.g. Ansible, Python, PowerShell which enables you to automate tasks and customize monitoring
• You have strong problem-solving skills, strong implementation skills and the ability to reduce complexity and present solutions convincingly
• Good communication skills, ability to work in an internationalteam
• You have no problem with English-language support or documentation
• Willingness to document
