Community Resilience Development Lead

Flexible Location in the UK

Salary: £47,724 - £49,974 Per Annum Based on 35 Hours Per Week

Contract: Permanent



At the British Red Cross, we put kindness into action. We have an exciting opportunity which will see you lead the Community Resilience team, tasked with supporting communities and individuals to build resilience against major risks, prioritising areas of greatest unmet need in the UK.


You will be responsible for establishing a Resilience strategy which brings together our resilience offer on a more formal and scalable footing. You will manage and coordinate the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Community Resilience team’s work programme to meet that Resilience strategy.


What does a Day in the life of a Community Resilience Development Lead look like?

  • Manage the development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative community resilience programs that align with the British Red Cross' strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, community organizations, and stakeholders to identify needs, build partnerships, and deliver impactful initiatives.
  • Champion community engagement by co-designing and co-creating resilience strategies with diverse community groups.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring effective delivery of projects.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, using insights to constantly improve approaches.
  • Represent the British Red Cross at local, regional, and national forums, advocating for community resilience.


What does it take to be a successful Community Resilience Development Lead?

  • Experience: Proven track record in developing and delivering community-focused projects, particularly in resilience, emergency planning, or community development.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional ability to build and maintain partnerships across diverse sectors.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge: Awareness of resilience frameworks, community development practices, and emergency planning standards.
  • Values: A commitment to the humanitarian principles of the British Red Cross.
