Manager, Support Services 1.0 FTE

($95,668 - $123,742)

Position Summary

Under the direction of the General Manger, Human Resources, the Manager, Support Services is responsible for recruitment, hiring, participating in contract negotiations, grievance participation, joint consultation meetings, staffing, surplus, leaves of absence, and contract administration for the client groups (APSSP, CUPE 1483, CUPE 2026, DPERWA, OPSEU, Mid-Management, Student Monitors, Senior Staff, Trustees). The Manager, Support Services provides professional expertise, direction, and guidance to the organization and manages the operations of the Support Services Department. The Manager, Support Services administers and interprets the Collective Agreements and Working Conditions for several employee groups, and ensures that all processes comply with contracts, the Labour Relations Act, the Education Act, the College of Early Childhood Educators' provisions, the Employment Standards Act, and Board policy and procedures. The Manager, Support Services is responsible for planning a recruitment strategy to meet the Board's needs in terms of numbers, qualifications, experience, and diversity of candidates. The Manager, Support Services is responsible for the maintenance of the electronic personnel files for the client groups, and the confidentiality of all Support Services data and processes. During the annual staffing processes, the Manager, Support Services provides advice and guidance to Principals/Managers/Superintendents of surplus staff and appropriate staffing mechanisms.

Basic Qualifications

University degree in Business Administration or Human Resource Management, or a related field.

CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional)/CHRL (Certified Human Resources Leader) designation.

Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the field of Human Resources Management.

Supervisory experience.

OR

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications/Additional Experience

Experience specializing in Recruitment and Selection, Organizational Planning and Control, Career Management, and Contract Negotiations.

Extensive working knowledge of relevant legislation.

Excellent reading, writing, and oral skills, to interpret and address complex and sensitive information such as contracts, financial information, and legal documents.

Proficient in computer applications, e.g. Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent strategic planning, issues management, and analytical problem-solving and negotiation skills.

Leadership experience.

Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment, tact, and sensitivity in dealing with internal and external contacts.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize and successfully complete projects with conflicting deadlines and urgency.

Excellent presentation skills.

Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.

Experience working with a large employer with multiple working conditions and bargaining unit agreements.

Experience in education is an asset.

A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
