Job description

As a Global Sourcing Manager at Hempel, you will play a key role in shaping and driving our global procurement strategies in the Americas. You will work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure that Hempel’s products are sourced at the highest quality, at driven prices, and within the most sustainable supply chain practices. You will be a strategic partner in optimizing costs, handling risks, and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services across our global operations. This role does not have direct reports but is accountable for managing processes within a global matrix structure. If you are a strategic thinker with a passion for global sourcing and supply chain management, we want to hear from you!

Here's some of the things you can look forward to:

  • Supplier Identification & Development: Identify, evaluate, and build strong relationships with global suppliers to ensure they meet Hempel’s quality, sustainability, and cost requirements.
  • Global Sourcing Strategy: Develop and implement sourcing strategies that support Hempel’s long-term objectives, while increasing value and minimizing risk in the supply chain.
  • Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead negotiations with suppliers on pricing, terms, and conditions, ensuring favorable outcomes for Hempel while maintaining positive supplier relationships.
  • Cost Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize the cost structure of sourced goods and services to drive efficiencies and savings.
  • Risk Management: Monitor and mitigate supply chain risks related to geopolitical factors, raw material availability, and environmental impact.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including logistics, product development, and finance, to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
  • Market Intelligence & Innovation: Stay informed on market trends, supplier innovations, and new technologies that could impact Hempel’s sourcing and procurement strategies.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Ensure the timely and successful execution of sourcing events that align with category strategies.
  • Effectively manage regional market intelligence to support the development of category strategies.
  • Achieve project and savings targets within the region.
  • Demonstrate responsiveness and effectiveness in handling emergency procurement situations.
  • Proactively solve problems with a focus on achieving operational alignment and driving cost efficiency.
  • Exhibit high adaptability and resilience in a dynamic regional supply chain environment.

Required education, experience, and job-related skills

  • Bachelor's degree required. A master’s degree or professional certifications is a plus.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in global sourcing or procurement, with a strong track record of managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of global supply chains, procurement processes, and sourcing strategies.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
