Engineering Field Technician, Level 1 - Jacksonville, FL

Grindley Williams Engineering (GWE) is growing their team in the Jacksonville, FL area!  This Engineering Technician I role is full-time, W2 employment.

The ideal candidate will enjoy being out in the field, driving from site to site as an assistant to the assigned Professional Engineer.  The Professional Engineer will be conducting forensic engineering inspections on residential and commercial buildings. 

This is an entry level role that is primarily working in the field and can, at times, require long days and overnight travel.  The ideal candidate will have a great attitude, be comfortable completing light office tasks, once trained, and be comfortable assisting the Professional Engineer with a variety of tasks to complete the inspection. 

This position is eligible for overtime and bonuses.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Drive safely to and from site inspections on field days with the assigned Professional Engineer 
• Communicate and coordinate with the Professional Engineering staff
• Effectively utilize field tools and technology to assist engineers with data collection on site (i.e. photography)
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with forensic engineering terms/methodology, once trained
• Willing and able to obtain licenses/certifications as required
• Drafts engineering reports as needed
  
• Occasional overnight travel
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Willing to travel overnight occasionally, which may include weekends in response to major storm damage
• Valid and active US Drivers License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record
• Licensed to operate a drone would be a plus, but is not required
