Moderna is seeking an Associate Director, CMC Procurement to lead category management, sourcing, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement across critical areas such as Logistics for Drug Substance and Drug Product, Storage, Warehousing Services, 4PL/3PL Services, Clinical Sample Transportation, Import/Export Customs Services, Packaging, and Raw Materials. Managing an annual spend of approximately $500M, this forward-thinking leader will act with urgency and push past possible to deliver impactful results while driving strategic and operational execution independently.

This global role assumes responsibility for managing and executing procurement strategies across Moderna’s supply chain and operations worldwide, ensuring optimal cost, performance, quality, and risk management within the supply base.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Acting as a liaison between Global Procurement and business partners across Moderna sites to drive collaboration and innovation.

  • Developing and managing global and regional category strategies aligned with internal stakeholders' objectives.

  • Leading strategic sourcing initiatives, including RFx activities and supplier negotiations, to deliver value and mitigate risks.

  • Managing supplier relationships and performance, fostering innovation, and ensuring contract compliance.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Operating independently to lead cross-functional teams and drive impactful outcomes in ambiguous environments.

  • Evaluating supplier risks, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with Moderna’s quality and security requirements.

  • Identifying and delivering cost savings and efficiency improvements across procurement categories.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 8-10+ years of experience in a large or medium-sized professional procurement organization with at least 2 of those years in the biopharmaceutical industry

  • 3+ years of category management experience in the areas of Logistics/Distribution, Packaging and Raw Materials

  • Professional Procurement certification (CPSM, MCIPS, etc.)

  • This role is expected to be in office 70% of the time with flexibility to work from home up to 30%.
