Essential Function

JOB DESCRIPTION

Overall responsibility for administration and direct case management of Workers’ Compensation, Property, Cargo and foreign liability claim to minimize the Company’s financial exposure. Assists Director of Risk Management in gathering and confirming underwriting information for insurance policy negotiations. Key operational liaison for regulatory reporting and compliance.

Primary Duties

Daily monitoring of claim reserves and case administration, including settlement and reserve strategies. Develops and recommends claims management processes and monitors compliance of same.

Supports and engages on various functions of the Risk Management program as required such as insurance renewals, risk engineering, invoice tracking, etc. Other duties as assigned

Administration of Property and Cargo claims to maximize third party and insurance recoveries.

Ensures accurate reporting and premium payment for monopolistic states. Partners with internal and external teams to support and facilitate the Canadian Workers Compensation program.

Monitors the department’s SOX compliance and prepares the monthly Accrual Analysis for approval. Reviews claim invoices for accuracy and authorization. Reviews department invoices for processing and approvals.

Identification of claims trends and design strategies and tactics to reduce losses and mitigate risk.

Develops and maintains productive partnerships with various departments, including Safety, Loss Prevention, Human Resources, Legal, and Accounting along with the Director Risk Management on various Risk Management projects and functions as needed.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Risk Management, Worker’s Compensation claims or closely related field.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interface with various levels of management along with executive communications.
  • Technical Insurance knowledge required.
  • Analytical skills required.

Working Conditions /Physical Requirements

  • The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
  • The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
