Job description

LTS is seeking a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to serve as the senior clinical leader who will be responsible for providing strategic direction, clinical oversight, and operational guidance to ensure the delivery of high-quality remote health services that enhance the medical readiness and operational capabilities of DoD personnel worldwide.

The CMO will lead the integration of telehealth, virtual care, and innovative medical technologies into readiness initiatives while ensuring alignment with DHA’s mission and DoD healthcare policies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee Clinical Providers, Clinical Support Staff (including clinical HCPs, nursing staff, medical assistants, and any non-dental techs (radiology techs, laboratory techs/phlebotomists, audio techs) and Clinical Operations.
  • Develop, and ensure medical personnel adhere to and follow, all safety standards and healthcare regulations; define clinical service procedures and quality assurance requirements; update clinical staff on new healthcare regulations as they are received
  • Ensure adherence with training requirements.
  • Provide oversight of the Contractor’s clinical QA/patient safety program.
  • Responsible for licensing verification and credential reviews of all Clinical Providers.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based protocols, standards of care, and clinical guidelines tailored to remote health services and readiness initiatives.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care through innovative telehealth and virtual care solutions.
  • Lead the development of strategies to enhance the integration of remote health capabilities into the Military Health System (MHS).
  • Identify emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in remote healthcare and incorporate them into program initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program stakeholders to ensure alignment with DoD readiness objectives and DHA strategic goals.
  • Serve as the primary clinical advisor to DHA leadership and other senior DoD officials on matters related to remote health and medical readiness.
  • Collaborate with military medical services (Army, Navy, Air Force) and external partners to align program efforts and share best practices.
  • Represent the Program in interagency forums, conferences, and working groups.
  • Establish and monitor clinical quality metrics to ensure compliance with federal, DoD, and DHA healthcare standards.
  • Oversee risk management and patient safety initiatives within the program.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and policies, including HIPAA and military-specific guidelines.
  • Provide clinical guidance and training to healthcare providers and staff involved in remote health delivery.
  • Promote education and awareness of telehealth and virtual care technologies among military medical personnel.
  • Drive research and development efforts in remote health, telemedicine, and readiness-related medical technologies.
  • Evaluate program outcomes and recommend improvements based on clinical and operational data.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Licensed and Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Physician plus seven years of clinical experience which must include seven years of supervisory and high-level leadership/administrative experience in a clinical setting.
  • Prior military service or experience working within the DoD healthcare system is highly preferred.
  • Experience with telehealth, virtual care, or remote healthcare delivery systems.
  • Strong knowledge of military healthcare systems, operational medicine, and readiness requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DHA operations, policies, and initiatives is preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
