Job description

Our story:

Every year millions of people are either filing their taxes in fear or giving up on their tax refund altogether. We're working on fixing that. Our intuitive app enables anyone, regardless of education or background, to file their taxes with newfound confidence.

Spread across Germany, Spain and the UK, the team at Taxfix Group with its brands Taxfix, Steuerbot and TaxScouts, is a compassionate group of solution-finders. We speak our minds openly, and with over 400 professionals, including tax experts, developers, and IT security experts, we're rich in ideas and voices. The group has facilitated more than 3.5 billion euros in tax refunds for its customers since its founding in 2016

Your challenge:

As a Senior Technical Product Manager in the Platform Engineering Group at Taxfix, your mission will be to define and champion the concept of "Platform as a Product." You will ensure our platform capabilities are robust, scalable, and developer-friendly, enabling teams across the organization to deliver customer value efficiently. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of product management and cutting-edge platform engineering, driving the vision for a platform that powers millions of tax filings annually.

Your team:

You’ll join the Platform Engineering Group, which comprises four key sub-groups:

  • Developer Experience (DevEx): Focused on making development workflows seamless, efficient, and enjoyable for engineers.

  • Cloud & Site Reliability Engineering (Cloud & SRE): Ensures our cloud infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and secure while maintaining high service reliability.

  • Data Platform: Empowers teams with AI/ML-ready data solutions, making data discoverable, accessible, and actionable.

  • Product Security: Safeguards our products and customer data through proactive security practices and robust frameworks.

As part of this cross-functional group, you will collaborate with engineering leads, product managers, and other stakeholders across Taxfix to deliver a world-class internal platform.

Your responsibilities and decisions:
  •  Define and own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Platform Engineering group, ensuring alignment with Taxfix’s business and development goals.

  • Act as the primary advocate for "Platform as a Product" ensuring our platform meets the needs of developers, ML engineers, analytics engineers and other teams.

  • Partner with the DevEx, Cloud & SRE, Data Platform, and Product Security teams to deliver impactful solutions that balance functionality, scalability, security and reliability.

  • Gather and prioritize requirements from internal stakeholders, ensuring their needs are reflected in platform capabilities.

  • Define success metrics and measure the impact of platform initiatives on developer productivity, system reliability, and security.

  • Communicate the value of the platform to stakeholders at all levels, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared ownership.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously innovate and improve platform capabilities.

Your profile:
  •  Proven track record as a Product Manager in a SaaS environment, ideally with a focus on platform engineering, developer experience, or cloud infrastructure.

  • Strong technical background or experience working closely with engineering teams on highly technical products.

  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable product strategies.

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

  • Data-driven decision-making approach, using KPIs and feedback to refine and improve platform offerings.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, cloud-native technologies, data platforms, and security frameworks.

  • Deep understanding of developer tools, infrastructure automation, and internal platforms.

  • A passion for solving complex problems and enabling others to succeed.

  • Collaborative, open-minded, and proactive in driving innovation and change.

  • You are a diversity champion

Why Taxfix?

  • Holistic well-being with free mental health coaching sessions and yoga.

  • A monthly allowance to spend on an extensive range of services that you can use and roll over as flexibly as you like.

  • Employee stock options for all employees—because everyone deserves to benefit from the success they help to create.

  • Dedicated relocation and visa support for those that need it.

  • 30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours.

  • Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. Just align with your team, and then enjoy your trip.

  • Plenty of opportunities to socialise as a team. In addition to internal tech meetups, our international team hosts regular get-togethers—virtually and in person when possible.

  • Free tax declaration filing, of course, through the Taxfix app—and internal support for all personal tax-related questions.
