Your Impact:

Pearce is seeking a well-qualified Composite Field Specialist – Wind Technical. This key role will report to the Senior Composite Engineer and be responsible for assisting the Wind Technical business unit in several aspects of fiberglass composite repairs, including but not limited to mentoring and training of Lead Composite Technicians and their teams, assisting Engineering in creating and executing repair plans, and implementing new processes or technologies. The Composite Field Specialist will work closely with existing Pearce customers and internal teams to grow our revenue and expand our service offerings and key target companies. The Composite Field Specialist will also identify and assist in development of repairs for potential customers and partners, and work with those partners to enable our services and solutions to fit their needs.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for mentoring and assisting Leads Technicians on pre-job kick-off tasks, job execution, and project finalization for their respective teams.
  • Required to supervise field work onsite focusing on Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.
  • Required to coach/conduct team members on fiberglass repair processes, applications, inspections, and reporting.
  • Work closely with Composite Engineering to create, improve, and train on Standard Operating Procedures and field documentation.
  • Responsible for conducting in the field composite training for technicians and leads.
  • Will be required to provide feedback to Safety and Engineering/Quality for business improvements.
  • Coach/train personnel on how to perform proper isolation of electrical components (LOTO).
  • Will be required to have the ability to recognize MAJOR nonconformities and develop corrective actions with Engineering team.
  • Be involved with reviews of ongoing repairs and approve process steps as designated by Engineering.
  • Conduct process and materials audits in the field.
  • Fill in for Lead Technicians on PTO or R&R rotation as necessary.
  • Accountable for meeting Safety, Quality, and Project Efficiency KPIs.
  • Perform certification training for DOT, basket operations, and LOTO.

Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs.

Core Experience

  • Composite blade experience required with additional knowledge in repair methods and materials required for fiberglass blades and components, Lightning protection systems, blade add-ons, leading edge protection, etc.
  • Minimum of five years direct composite repairs experience on one or more platforms.
  • Very high technical experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematic and technical drawings.
  • Proficient in using dial calipers, fluke meters, and all other tools used on WTG.
  • Experience with SCADA and other monitoring tools for WTG.
  • DOT certified.
  • Self-motivated with high level of integrity.

Physical/Work Environment

At Pearce safety is our number one concern. Candidates must be able to comply with OSHA Standards.

  • Travel Required, with assigned work scopes to be billable to projects minimum of 50%.
  • Maintain required training certifications for position held. These include at a minimum: OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR/AED - First Aid.
  • Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet.
  • Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance.
  • Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds).
  • Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses.
