This is a remote position open to applicants in the Detroit, MI metro area only. 


THE OPPORTUNITY   

The Director of Product Learning & Development leads the creation and implementation of learning programs that enhance employee skills, performance, and engagement. This role involves identifying training needs, designing training solutions, managing content libraries, and fostering strategic partnerships with 3rd party content providers. The Director is responsible for overseeing content development across credit unions, leadership training, and non-credit union courses while ensuring continuous improvement of learning initiatives to support the organization’s goals.


 THE WORK ITSELF 

  • Develop and implement a strategic learning plan aligned with both credit union and non-credit union business objectives.
  • Lead content development and foster a culture of continuous professional development.
  • Identify training needs through assessments, feedback, and performance data analysis.
  • Design, execute, and report on a content creation and improvement roadmap.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with 3rd party content providers and vendors within budget.
  • Explore new partnerships that support organizational and TLC product objectives.
  • Ensure adoption of new content and enhancements across teams.
  • Design and deliver innovative training programs, including onboarding, technical skills, leadership, compliance, and customer service training.
  • Utilize diverse instructional methods such as e-learning, webinars, and blended learning.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create complex financial and compliance training.
  • Negotiate contracts with SMEs for content development.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and learning demands to keep content fresh and market-relevant.
  • Work closely with the COO and development team to integrate market needs into the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with department managers to implement performance management systems that support employee development.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments and feedback.
  • Ensure alignment between training materials and client needs, collaborating with senior leadership and customer care teams.
  • Implement new technologies and methodologies to improve training efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead efforts to improve content, delivery methods, and participant engagement.
  • Represent the company at User Group meetings and other industry events.
  • Build networks within the financial L&D community for partnerships.
  • Take ownership of TLC content, including maintenance, vendor/partner management, client usage tracking, and SME management.

 THE SKILLS YOU BRING 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in learning and development, including 3+ years in training design and blended learning solutions.
  • 2+ years of instructional design experience preferred.
  • Experience working with instructional designers and QA staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles and training methodologies.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement successful training programs.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.
  • Strong ability to adjust to change and work requirements. 
  • Resilient amidst challenges. 
  • Ability to work both independently and in an engaged team environment with healthy dynamics.
