Job Description: Application Support Engineer (AppBank)

Position: Application Support Engineer (AppBank)
Experience: 3 to 6 years

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Application Support Engineer to join our AppBank team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL, Linux, and shell scripting, along with hands-on experience in production support and debugging applications. This role requires a dynamic professional with a passion for application maintenance, incident management, and continuous improvement of business-critical applications.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Proficient in SQL for database management and troubleshooting.

  • Strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX operating systems.

  • Experience in UNIX scripting and shell scripting.

  • Hands-on programming skills in UNIX environments.

  • Debugging and issue resolution experience.

  • Proven experience in production support and application support roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide L1/L2 production support for critical applications.

  • Manage incidents, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis.

  • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate routine tasks.

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth application operations.

  • Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance stability and reliability.

  • Ensure timely resolution of incidents and escalate issues as needed.

  • Document processes, issues, and resolutions to build a knowledge base.

Added Advantage Skills:

  • Experience with Java or Python programming.

  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud technologies.

  • Understanding of Lambda functions.

  • Knowledge of Java-based applications and microservices.

Preferred Organizations: Candidates with prior experience in financial institutions such as JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, or Goldman Sachs will be given preference.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in application and production support.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
