Senior Policy Specialist, Trust & Safety

As a Trust & Safety Policy Development Lead, you will play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining a safe and positive online environment for our users. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and updating content moderation policies that align with our company values and address the evolving challenges of online safety. This role requires a deep understanding of online safety issues, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

What you will do:

• Develop and refine content moderation policies: Conduct thorough research on industry best practices, legal frameworks, and emerging online safety risks to inform policy decisions.
• Draft and implement policies: Create clear, concise, and user-friendly policies related to content moderation, user safety, and platform integrity. Ensure policies are consistently applied across the platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with Legal, Product, Engineering, and Communications teams to ensure policy alignment and operational effectiveness.
• Safety by Design: Develop and implement frameworks to assess and mitigate Trust & Safety vulnerabilities in new and existing products.
• Oversee policy enforcement: Guide and monitor the enforcement of content moderation policies, ensuring fairness and consistency.
• Respond to policy escalations: Address complex or high-profile policy violations and provide guidance on appropriate actions.
• Conduct risk assessments: Proactively identify and evaluate potential risks related to user safety and platform integrity.
• Stay informed: Continuously monitor industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory developments in online safety.

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

• 6+ years of experience: In Trust & Safety, product policy, compliance, or similar roles for platforms with user-generated content (UGC).
• Deep understanding of online safety: Familiarity with current challenges, best practices, and legal frameworks related to content moderation and user safety.   
• Policy development expertise: Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain clear and effective content policies.  
• Excellent communication skills: Ability to articulate complex policies to diverse audiences and foster understanding across different teams.  
• Strong analytical skills: Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information to make informed policy decisions.  
• Collaborative approach: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and build consensus among diverse stakeholders.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with specific online safety issues relevant to Vimeo's platform (e.g., copyright infringement, hate speech, misinformation).
• Familiarity with specific legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., COPPA, GDPR, CDA Section 230).

Base Salary Range:

• NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles:    $112,000 - $154,500
• All other US cities outside above metro areas:    $100,800 - $139,050
