Job description

Job Title: Climate Services Senior Sales Associate

Salary: CAD 75-80,000 plus 15% variable

Level: 4

Team: Climate Services

Reporting to: Sales Manager, Climate Services

Closing Date: 5th December

We encourage you to highlight your passion for climate finance in your cover letter.

Purpose:

Climate Bonds has a set of compelling commercial services that have been well received by clients, but too few are aware of them -- the organisation needs a few ambitious salespeople to go out and present these services, our sustainable bonds databases, certifications and sponsored research and events, to financial institutions and other key debt market participants. This is a high impact role where the candidate will engage with the world’s leaders in sustainable finance

We’re on the lookout for two dynamic individuals with sales expertise in the Greater Toronto Area! If you thrive on building connections and have a knack for identifying key decision-makers within organisations, this opportunity is for you. This role is ideal for passionate advocates of sustainability with a background in finance or data sales, who are eager to embrace a fully remote position in sustainable finance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a dynamic sales strategy for your territory aimed at reaching targets and advancing strategic growth initiatives.
  • Generate new sales through direct engagement with clients, including uncovering new prospects and successfully closing deals.
  • Serve as a trusted consultant to institutional investors, banks, and other clients, guiding them on the assimilation of new definitions and standards established by Climate Bonds and illustrating how our products and services can enhance their operations.
  • Partner with Client Support to uncover opportunities for cross-selling and upselling within existing accounts.
  • Maintain a vigorous sales activity level through calls, virtual meetings, and face-to-face interactions in Toronto, along with annual sales visits to major client cities such as New York, London, or Paris.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of account interactions, client discussions, and finalized contracts.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with other departments (Client Support, Product Management, Legal, Finance) to ensure all client requests and inquiries are handled effectively.
  • Actively seek client feedback on new initiatives and future product development, while also relaying insights from clients to our internal teams.
  • Initiate new business ventures with targeted campaigns tailored to your client base, teaming up with other client-facing teams and the Marketing department.
  • Commit to ongoing self-learning and seize every opportunity to deepen your expertise in our data products, methodologies, certification schemes, and other Climate Bonds content to enhance your credibility and value to clients.
  • Collaborate closely with Client Support teams throughout the sales process, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience for new clients.

Requirements

Essential:

  • 3 years of b2b sales experience in the finance industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities in English and the ability to deliver professional and persuasive presentations and build long-term client relationships.
  • Strong client servicing, consultative sales, and overall strong commercial skills.
  • Strong enthusiasm for sustainable investing is a must

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the role or with other qualification like CFA
  • 5 years of b2b sales experience in the finance industry
  • 3+ years of data sales experience
  • 2+ years of sustainable finance experience
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across product and sales teams
