Legal Counsel - Data Privacy & IP

About the opportunity

We are hiring a Data Privacy lawyer with hands-on mentality and expertise in Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Tech to further grow our IP/Data Privacy Team as part of our ‘Beyond Banking Law Team’. 

In this role, you will:

• Support our ‘Beyond Banking Law Team’ with all data privacy law matters related to Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Tech:

• Together with your manager, be the subject matter expert for tracking technologies such as cookies and support our Marketing and Product teams to use these technologies in a compliant way;

• Work closely together with our Marketing and Product teams to conduct privacy assessments for Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Tech related initiatives;

• In this context, among other tasks, review and negotiate data processing and joint controller agreements, set up Records of Processing Activities, conduct Privacy Impact Assessments and assess data transfers to third countries.

• As a member of our IP/Data Privacy Law Team you will also work on intellectual property law related and other data privacy law related matters, such as legal reviews of new features/products and marketing initiatives.

What you need to be successful:

Your background: 

• You are thrilled with the idea of ​​working in Europe's first mobile bank with a full European banking license and have always wanted to prove your commitment in a FinTech

• You are a fully qualified German lawyer and have passed the first and second state law examinations with above-average results

• You have already successfully gained 1-3 years professional GDPR/data privacy law experience in Europe in a reputable law firm, the legal department of a (tech) company or a marketing/advertising agency

• You have an affinity for Digital Marketing, Advertising and Marketing Tech

• You are fluent in both German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills

• You are hands-on and eager to tackle new topics while demonstrating a quick grasp and experience in conceptual project work

• You should be an ideal addition to the team and should therefore have very good interpersonal skills, pragmatic thinking and working, have a certain zest for action in you and be humorous

• You are a team player who can work independently

• You are someone who is devoted to their tasks with great commitment and sense of duty and always performs tasks reliably (even under time pressure)

• You bring along entrepreneurial vision, prudence in challenging markets and high commitment and initiative
