The Role

As a Journal Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in driving the journal's growth and influence by attracting high-quality submissions and enhancing its reputation within the academic community. 

As a Journal Specialist, you will: 

  • Develop assigned Specialty Sections into leaders in their field by implementing data-based growth strategies for their long-term success. 

  • Take charge of the entire life cycle of article collections from launch to online publication. 

  • Engage and build relationships with editors and researchers, promoting the journal to secure high-quality submissions and community trust, Support team effectiveness by participating in training, accurately reporting on progress and sharing best practices. 

  • Conduct calls with external stakeholders and perform outreach in a cold-call style. 

  • Drive customer satisfaction by addressing feedback, delivering operational excellence, and participating in initiatives that trigger process and product improvements. 

  • Evaluate the current number of board members and recruit new ones when necessary. 

About you: 

  • Work experience that fostered relevant transferable skills, with a graduate degree or higher preferred, coupled with a passion for advancing research dissemination and open science. 

  • Good analytical acumen with the ability to use data to continuously improve performance. 

  • Technical savvy, open to learning new tools and processes. 

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. 

  • Demonstrated time management expertise, prioritization skills, and project coordination. 

  • Ability to adjust specialty section strategies based on evolving industry trends and organizational goals. 

  • A sales mindset with excellent ability to build effective relationships with customers both digitally and in person. 

  • Results-driven and solution-oriented with a commitment to excellence and a proactive, collaborative attitude. 

  • Sound judgment in sensitive situations and tactfulness when engaging with diverse stakeholders. 

Occasional travel to our London or Madrid offices may be required for team-building activities and important meetings.
