Schulte Hospitality Group is seeking a dynamic, service-oriented
Retail Buyer (Part-Time Remote) to join our Inn at Stonecliffe team and to merchandize our General Store! We carry high-end brands of clothing and are looking to expand our offerings.
The Inn at Stonecliffe was built in 1904 and is located on the beautiful Mackinac Island, Michigan. For centuries, Mackinac Island has been an ideal summer vacation spot with about 1 million visitors each year and about 15,000 a day during its main tourist season.
This job will be remote and will require monthly travel to Mackinac Island and another area Schulte Property to assist with their retail buying.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for staying abreast of the latest trends through industry reports, social media, trade shows and fashion shows
- Seeking out new suppliers and building relationships
- Reviewing and evaluating the current offerings available from suppliers
- Determining which goods to purchase and in what quantities
- Negotiating purchase terms with suppliers
- Analyzing inventory data to identify strong and weak sellers
- Handling the displaying of items in the General Store
- Monitoring inventory and re-ordering in a timely manner
Education And Experience
- Minimum of High School education, post-high school education preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years in a retail environment
- Must have experience with bulk retail purchasing.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Excellent listening and problem-solving skills
- Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
- Negotiating Skills
- Strong computer skills
- Must have flexible work hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
