Brief Description
The
Senior Director of Business Development - Data Centers is responsible for increasing our market penetration into this segment, leading with electrical distribution equipment yet leveraging our complete portfolio of services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in sales, technical expertise working in the data center industry, and a deep understanding of the latest technologies and industry best practices, ability to manage a team, and a proven track record of building relationships with key industry players. This is a
remote role; however, the ideal candidate would reside in or near
Houston, TX, Denver, CO, Spokane, WA, Cleveland, OH, Columbus, OH, or Pittsburg, PA. - Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive data center strategy that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Research, identify and pursue high-impact sales opportunities within the market, focusing on new opportunities.
- Maintain detailed records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions. Analyze sales data and metrics to measure performance, identify key trends, and adjust strategies to maximize impact.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events.
- Working with the marketing team to help develop specific marketing strategies that drive business.
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan that leverages differentiated service models to meet diverse client needs. Use insights from market trends, competitor analysis, and customer feedback to refine strategies and drive growth.
- Scheduling and planning of customer site visits.
- Drive new business by seeking out opportunities with new and existing customers, close on customer orders.
- Gather and provide competitor feedback.
- Establishes and maintains customer relationships to generate profitable sales.
- Build and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers. Utilize value-added selling techniques to understand client needs and provide customized solutions that deliver significant benefits and ROI.
- Monitors support teams to ensure orders are executed as agreed.
- Partner with internal teams, including engineering, project management, and customer support, to ensure seamless delivery and exceptional service. Provide feedback to enhance product offerings and service models based on client interactions and industry developments.
- Tracks and reports sales activity monthly.
- Craft and present compelling proposals that highlight our unique value propositions. Negotiate terms and close deals with a focus on creating win-win outcomes that align with both client expectations and company objectives.

- Build and lead a high-performing team of sales and business development resources across North America.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in data center operations and management.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., Uptime Institute, ISO, ANSI/TIA)
- 5 years’ sales experience in the electrical industry preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale data center development projects.
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and security systems.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Experience with budget management and financial planning.
- Proficient in Microsoft office.
- Distributor, Electrical Contractor, and OEM background preferred.
- Cooperative attitude towards all internal and external customers.
- A dependable and strong work ethic.
- Ability to learn other areas sufficient to fill in where required.
