What's The Role

The primary function for this senior position is to contribute to the development of engineering plans required for customer premise deployment of the Company’s B2B product portfolio inclusive of the pre and post installation analysis, staging and testing of equipment. The role also requires installations, maintenance, repairs, and removal activities across all of the Company’s B2B Product Portfolio, providing support to all Small to Medium Business, Enterprise, and Government customers within the required Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

What You'll Do

  • Perform Installation, Adds, Moves, Changes, Troubleshooting, Maintenance and Support of all B2B related services and equipment offered by the company, including but not restricted to fiber and copper drops, modems/ONT, switches, routers, firewalls, PBXs, fixed telephony handsets, and other equipment forming part of the company’s solution portfolio accordance with relevant SLAs and contracts.
  • Provide smart hands to assist in the configuration, turn-up and troubleshooting of services in close coordination with departments responsible for such activities.
  • Perform surveys of premises to establish the most appropriate route for carrying out wiring, and ensuring necessary requirements are met to support physical, environmental, electrical, and grounding requirements for the installation of equipment.
  • Provide onsite maintenance support activities on all B2B services according to the defined policies and protocols ensuring strict adherence to all relevant standards and safety procedures
  • Provide onsite installation activities of all B2B services according to the defined policies and protocols including the integration of these services with the customers’ existing data and support systems infrastructure ensuring strict adherence to all relevant standards and safety procedures.
  • Perform advance troubleshooting of IP Data/Voice and application related issues on Enterprise services deployed by the Company at Enterprise customer premises.
  • Develop Technical training material for Internal Colleagues training within the B2B Field Service department. Develop and deliver end-user training to Enterprise business customers on the use of products that form part of the Company’s Enterprise voice and data Portfolio
  • Ensure compliance with defined SLAs and KPIs for all activities.
  • Suggest improvements initiatives to improve the quality, productivity, and efficiency of the B2B field services team and related areas across the service delivery process.
  • Work closely with the CSC, B2B Solution Implementation & Delivery (SID), Project Management and Fixed Network Construction and Outside Plant teams to successfully deliver and restore B2B solutions and services.
  • Install, test, and certify premise cabling according to industry and company standards, and oversee the installation and testing of premises structured cabling jobs by third party contractors.
  • Assist in order processing for material procurement including maintaining and reporting on individual stock materials.
  • Remain up to date on standardized processes, policies and procedures as set by Central T&I by participating in periodic training.
  • As it relates to B2B field services, coordinate and oversee contractor resources and installation activities as needed to comply with relevant SLAs/KPIs and report to the team lead on the performance of contractors.
  • Document and update customer-related information as needed to ensure an up-to-date customer information database
  • Use accepted procedures for the prompt reporting and/or escalation of troubles to the next level of maintenance or supervision.
  • Provides technical and outage reports and all other correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Provides input and Technical sign off as requested in the development of proposals, etc. to support the commercial team.
  • Perform Acceptance tests and Technical sign off on new products before product launch.
  • Perform any other tasks as required.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Associate Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
  • Technical certification or Diploma in IP/Data and SIP Technologies
  • Accredited Manufacturer Certification – Cisco (CCNA or CCNP), Juniper, Fortinet, Mitel MiVoice Office and Business or equivalent, Avaya IP Office and Aura or equivalent
  • 9 + years of experience in a Senior or advanced field technical role in the telecommunications or ICT sector.
  • Telecommunication / ICT industry certification (CompTIA,Network+ or the like) preferable, or proven equivalent knowledge and long term experience applying in a working environment
