Firewall Engineer

NexGen Data Systems is seeking a Firewall Engineer with experience supporting in-service systems for the worldwide network. Firewall Sustainment Engineers ensure continued operation and maintenance of a system with managed risk. Technical surveillance of critical safety items, approved sources for these items, and the oversight of the design configuration baselines are also part of the sustaining engineering effort. This team consists of a combination of System Engineering and management strategies to achieve the desired sustainment metrics. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

· This engineer will provide network security for a large enterprise network. They will coordinate with multiple network subject matter experts and have frequent interaction with internal and external customers. 

· Troubleshoot network security suite solutions.

· Work in a team setting making recommendations related to troubleshooting, device configuration, and documentation.

· Resolve issues in a timely manner dealing with a variety of different network devices and protocols following applicable reporting formats

· Perform detailed technical analyses for a system, subsystem or system elements

· Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

· Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways

Required/Desired Skills:

· 6-9 years relevant experience in supporting a large network infrastructure.

· A strong working knowledge with Cisco devices, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Palo Alto Firewalls.

· Experience with F5 preferred. 

· Experience with the following a plus: Palo Alto Firewall PA-4050, Palo Alto Firewall PA-2050, Palo Alto Firewall PA-5050, Cisco Switch/FWSM 6500-E, Cisco ASA 5500 Series Firewalls.

· Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline is preferred.

· Have a wide range of experience and be able to apply to various technical situations.

· A good understanding of TCP/IP in regard to routing and subnetting.

· Must be a team player that can work under pressure with good written and oral communication skills.

· Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance (or above).

· Experience with the following Network protocols and services: Routing Protocols (OSPF, BGP) and Access Control Lists

· 8140 Compliance Required.

· Secret Clearance or higher required.

· Cisco Certification (CCNA or CCNP) preferred. 

· Travel as required.
