Summary of Job Duties:
The responsibilities of the Instructor/Counselor include:

*Providing developmental and intrusive advising;
*Determining placement and registering freshman students for courses;
*Maintaining files and tracking first-year students;
*Consulting with faculty and staff on behalf of individual students;
*Making referrals for support services as needed;
*Assisting in the planning and implementation of new student orientation;
*Providing classroom instruction and student-development workshops;
*Performing classroom and related research deemed necessary for the area;
*Serving as advisor to student organizations;
*Serving on University committees;
*Assisting in departmental recruitment and retention programs; and
*Assisting in developing and expanding innovative programs to improve student transition, achievement, and persistence in college.

Qualifications:

The candidate must hold a Master's degree in guidance counseling, education, or related field. It is preferred that the candidate have two or more years of experience in teaching or advising students. It is also preferred that the Instructor/Counselor have knowledge and skills in Microsoft, serve as a team player, promote excellent written and oral communication skills, promote interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
